What made your blood boil today?

Old wankers in capable cars plotting around!

40mph road near me, big, open, no major risks apart from the odd hole - Aston Martin convertible in front, roof down... faffing around at 20-25mph the whole way, barely capable of driving in a straight line.

Can't overtake due to traffic, but nobody in front of him! Absolute tosser, didn't even speed up much to join the motorway, ended up joining around 40mph despite there being minimal traffic on that part. TWAT!

Today I unfortunately witnessed some disgusting behaviour on beech here in Devon. A man and a woman arguing in front of a load of kids. Then she smacked him one right across the head and it all kicked

God help my generation when we reach old age, there is just going to be nowhere near enough to go around! I'm pensionable (military), in 2023. One of the main (tin foil hat on) reasons to leave after 22 years instead of accept an extension, is that I do not trust the MOD/HM Govt to pay me what I signed up for. The pension has already changed twice in my time, one of those was a mandatory change which has cost me in the region of £50k-100k, possibly more depending how long I live. How do I know the Treasury aren't going to come out in ten years and say "sorry lads, we know what we signed up to, but it just isn't affordable anymore".

Another one to make your blood boil... yesterday I read an article (link below), about a transgender woman who has won the right to draw a state pension early, on the basis of now being a woman.

It's quite an interesting proposition. She has become a woman, but is still and will always be genetically a man. Therefore the traditional reasons for retiring later must surely still come into play?

Not often I comment on stuff like this.  Kimbers/Andy, I wholeheartedly agree with you, BUT...

This has been brewing for a long time.  Science can now increase human longevity way beyond an individual's ability to function as a 'contributor'.  A species has only one goal: to perpetuate itself.  Essentially, once you've brought up your young you are no longer useful.  Combine this with social mores dictating that we keep an individual alive at all costs, and you have a time bomb.  The system can no longer support its older contingent.

My son-in-law manages the radiology department in a major London hospital.  He tells me that more than 50% of the people he now scans (many before/during major life-saving procedures) are geriatrics all but incapable of communication.  A fair few who can communicate are pretty much hoping to shuffle off, but we won't let them.  The cost is monumental.

The amount of cash/effort poured into my Dad's end-of-life care last year was staggering.  It satisfied moral requirements but did nothing more than delay the inevitable for him and his family.  It's unsustainable on a macro scale.

I know this'll be contentious, but my charity donations no longer go to the likes of heart/cancer concerns.  I now give to hospitals and hospices.

@Sparky this is exactly the same conversation I had with an ex GP in A&E on one of my frequent trips there due to you know what. He said he stopped being a GP because he spent half of his life looking after people who really shouldn’t be here anyway and the cost was ridiculous so he gave it up.

Ok, to get away from Brecit here's one that has really made my blood boil today!

So Social care is at rock Bottom for retired people because of Govt cuts and a rise in the number of Older people. What to do? Increase Tax by 1% for everyone? Increase National Insurance for everyone? Get the Govt to stop cutting cutting cutting and "Cut" Foreign Aid to pay for our own people who need help?

Ohhhhhh no. The MP's have decided there needs to be an "Old Age Tax" for over 40's only (Because obviously Young people won't ever get old and need social care). So just when you have a little spare income and can finally do some things you have worked hard all your life for, they want to tax you more cause you are getting old, worked hard all your life and and have a little spare income. Well F**K Off I hav e seen it all now!

It’s always someone else’s fault and someone else always needs to pay.

today a chap with motor neurone disease was told he cannot end his own life...... we are utterly lacking in humanity. I can however have a civil partnership now should i chose.

Society is screwed. I’m stunned by the utter shite out political elite spew out. The sooner brexits done and dusted and the sun doesn’t fall out of the sky the better.

We as a society need to stop bleating and moaning about people’s “rights” and “entitlements” the better.

NHS should of course be free. If you ain’t paid in and don’t contribute - why should you get anything. You choose to be “sexually” different - why should that be at the detriment to someone else. You’ve done well and worked hard -why should you pay for the lazy f&ckwit socialist doleite who spends their entire existence sponging off the state.

@Barrykearley you have given me an idea ! If I get fat and pretend I have a bad knee. Would the government buy me a Evora 410 or just a 400. If they don’t buy me a 410 it’s discrimination against me for being fat right ?

Honestly, couldn’t agree more with what you have said.

OK, it's a 50mph average speed zone and that's what I'm doing (within the accuracy of my tachograph, which is +/- 1kph) so I don't need you coming over all self-appointed traffic cop and trying to reduce me to 45 - I've got a tight schedule as it is and only made it to my destination with 3 minutes to spare.

I do love the new LED light bar fitted to the roof of my truck though and I'm sure the Focus driver appreciated the extra bit of illumination of the road ahead,.

There is a follow-up video to this but I can't publish it here as I've sent it to the 'real' traffic cops for the area. As I passed him, Focus muppet then accelerated to match my speed and sat alongside my trailer wheels flashing his headlights, before speeding up a bit more, pulling into the lane a few feet in front of me and giving me a brake check - twice! :realmad:  Really? Ford Focus versus 44 tonnes of Volvo artic is only ever going to have one outcome were it not for my lightning reflexes, and the brilliant Collision Avoidance System these new wagons have - boy can they scrub-off speed in a hurry!

He was even struggling to keep in the middle lane. Complete and utter total .......

However, I will come clean and say one the most frustrating things for me, on 2 lane motorways (all we seem to have in Scotland really) and dual carriageways is the lorry that pulls out at 50mph to over take the lorry doing 49.6mph.  3 miles later and it is still only about half way past and at that point I must confess to start to get a tiny wee bit impatient and make the universally friendly gesture of asking said lorry driver if he wants a coffee and how he likes his beans!  Complete and utter numb knuts as 6 times out of ten they pull out just as the road elevation goes up and then it takes them 5 miles to get past.  The difference in speed is negligible and therefore the time saved is nothing - 1 minute and hour max.

Having said that, I see too many. No, far too many motorists who sit in the middle / outside lane causing lorries to have to brake and slow down when there is no need (i.e. the lane to the left is EMPTY for miles!) and motorists who seem to think it is some sort of a sport to race past a lorry and leave it till they have 6 foot to spare before vearing left right in front of the lorry to jump up the slip-road and off the motorway / dual carriageway.  The middle lane hoggers are 7 times out of ten middle aged woman. My research suggests the worse cars for the hogging are Citroen Picasso's. Argh.  The ones who leave it too late to pull off, are usually blokes, middle aged say 30 - 45, 9 times out of ten in a diesel audi saloon, who look like complete and utter tossers and extra's from the Office sitcom.  My research is ongoing though to prove these things.

Is it just because indicators on your car only work 50% of the time they are on that people think they don't have to bother using them?

I hope the Police prosecute him. Only issue I can see is proving who was driving as he could say "It wasn't me". Always need a clear shot of the driver. Though that can be null-en-voided by a statement from you saying what the driver looked like, plus a little detective work "did your husband leave for work in his car as normal" etc.

This is exactly what I mean, what annoys me is the lorry on the inside could easily slow down a bit to let the other one past but it is like they both sit there with their foot flat to the floor.

This! I expect better reporting from the BBC not a headline straight out of the Daily Star!  Looking at the headline you would think the Queen was a sponger, when, after you get near the bottom you find the gem of the truth (i.e. it is 25% of the SURPLUS generated by the crown estates revenue) that in fact it is the Queen's own money really and that she gets 25% and the Government gets the other 75%! So how is this taxpayer funded? It is this type of crass and immoral sensationalising of a miss-truth that is eroding my confidence and support of the BBC. Reading the headline any normal person would just think "sponging so and so's.........."

Queen's taxpayer-funded costs up 13% in 2017-18

QueenImage copyrightREUTERS

The Queen's taxpayer-funded costs rose by 13% in the past year, partly due to the refurbishment of Buckingham Palace.

Accounts show the public funds used by the Queen for official expenditure and duties went up from £41.9m to £47.4m.

More than £4m was spent on the initial phase of improvements at the palace, including the removal of old wiring, while £21.4m went on payroll costs.

The Queen's official expenditure is met from public funds in exchange for revenue from the Crown Estate.

The "core" sovereign grant is based on 15% of the net surplus of the Crown Estate, as it was two years previously.

But from this year, the total grant is based on 25% of the surplus - an increase intended to meet the costs of refurbishing Buckingham Palace

I was going through the 50mph speed limit zone with exactly 80kph set on the highly-accurate digital cruise control, confirmed by my equally accurate digital tachograph. Chummy in his Focus was no doubt working from his not-so-accurate analogue speedo which said he was doing approximately 50mph but in reality was more like 46-47. However, in his eyes, it would appear that I was judged to be speeding and therefore he needed to take direct action to slow me down - I mean, think of the kittens who's lives were being threatened by my selfish actions, .

That minute could make the difference between making it to your destination or not. I'm not defending this so-called 'elephant racing' but there are times, like my run above, where every second is precious.

A few minutes delay over the course of a journey which is scheduled to take say 4hours and 27 minutes and you run out of time - at 4hours and 30 minutes of driving time, regardless of whether you've travelled 2 miles or 200+ miles in that time, an HGV driver is legally obliged to stop and take a 45 minute (usually unpaid) break before continuing. By taking this break before he/she's at their destination, this has now eaten into the time available to complete the return leg so now another 45 minute break will be required before the end of the shift.

Therefore, it is very much a case of pedal to the floor and keep it there if you only want to be taking 1 break in your own time. Also, you're only allowed to exceed the 9 hours driving per day 3 times in any week, and then only for an extra 1 hour at which point it is park up and take the legally-required minimum daily rest of 11 hours, although this can be reduced to 9 twice in any week. Confused? You want to try working to them, along with the Working Time Regulations which have a whole different set of limitations and requirements. Get it wrong and you could find yourself up before the Traffic Commissioner who generally takes a very dim view of any time infringements so you could be looking at a fine of £500+ and having your HGV entitlement suspended for several weeks.

So you see, it's not all endless supplies of Yorkie bars and a prostitute at every truck stop! :P
