Clicking noises on full lock

Recommended Posts

Is this normal? I get click click click click from the front wheels when manoeuvring at low speeds on full lock.

Yea I hear the tyre scrub and understood that was the cause of that... just wondered if the clinking/pinging noises were also due to the same thing. :)

If it is scrubbing the tyres then as above Ackerman Angle. This applies to most Lotus' including the Evora S1.

If it is actually clicking, then likely that there is dirt between the wheel and hub, so need to take the wheels off and clean the surfaces. Had to do it to mine last night.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

Mine started to do this on a trackdays, the dealer looked at it under warranty, as said above, the factory fix is to remove the wheel and clean the hub, mine is quieter than it was, but still quite noisy and is going back in to be looked at again.

You might need to get a very fine sandpaper and give a light going over to get the surfaces absolutely smooth and clean.

Easier to do it myself than take it in. Mine first did it on the Isle of Man, so also when brakes were in heavier use.

Thank you guys, I'll try cleaning the wheel / hub interface.  My S1 does this when taking left hand corners at ~20mph+.  Going to the right or slowly round a car park no problem but turning left on a twisty B road and I can here some clicking noises, think its coming from rear right wheel.
