Shades and gauges.

Just noticed that if you're wearing polarizing sunglasses then you can't see any of the digital dashboard readouts in the Evora unless you cock your head at an angle! Ace bit of design there Lotus!

Yes, but if they'd rotated the polarizing filter on the dashboard by 90 degrees then all would be well. You'd have thought that the designers of digital dashboards would be aware of the issue.

Especially indoors or when it is dark as you just look like a twonk!

Re the dash, not just a Lotus issue but a general motoring issue with many manufacturers having this issue.

All cars do this not just Lotus.  Its a lottery between the polarisation on your glasses and the one on the car's info screen.   I have no problem in my S1 but on a BMW 535GT I loaned for a while I couldn't read the HUD with my glasses.

Maybe there should be an international standard for the polarisation angle of cars and sunglasses to ensure compatibility?  :)

I'm beginning to think that maybe the hospital installed my eyes sideways...

I was under the impression that the filter direction of polarised sunglasses was supposed to be orientated to reduce glare coming from light reflecting off horizontal surfaces e.g standing water. So they should all be the same but I suppose that there could be some dodgy ones out there where the manufacturers have got the direction wrong. If all sunglasses are supposed to be the same then the manufacturers of car dashbords and radios should be taking into account that you need to be able to see the displays wearing sunglasses without having to tilt your head sideways! So maybe my sunglasses are right and my dashboard is wrong, or my dashboard is right and my sunglasses are wrong. Either way we don't get much sunshine round here so it'll probably be years before I encounter the problem again...
