Is pulling engine only option?

I need to replace a leaking $10 oil seal on front crankshaft on 2012 evora, some say engine has to come out some say no, does anyone have the real answer??

Local dealer is not far and car runs fine, just has an oil leak.. Problem is I have at lease 10 dealers (local included) no one has ever actually done this repair before.  Its not something that normal fail (I had to make it fail) basically I was replacing AC Comp, I loosened serpentine belt to put unit in, but didn't take belt off, as a result I didn't pay enough attention and the belt had come off the one idler pulley you cant see, so then it frayed and a section wrapped around the cam pulley and is ether pressuring or has damaged the seal..  At this point a few shops have said you can access through wheel well (not true) others have said it can be done with out removing engine, one said engine can be dropped 6"??  Others have said engine has to come out, which stinks for a $10 part and a 30min repair..   I reached out to Lotus ddirectly and they thin there maybe one guy in Nashville who know definitive answer so we shall see..
