Exige S V6 - Service light

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm new to the forum and also to the brand, having just purchased a lovely yellow Exige S V6 from 2015 in Germany and brought it all the way to Sweden. I’ve had a lovely summer with the car and I’m struggling to think of another car I would want more, even with money being no object! However I’m planning a service and living in Sweden I have a bit of a problem. The authorized service shops are Bosch establishments where someone on the workforce has gone through an education to be certified, and after visiting these workshops I can’t say I’m filled with confidence in leaving my car with them. However I have used a Ferrari workshop for other cars in many many years and have 110% confidence in the way they do things and the work carried out there has always been above and beyond. So I’m now thinking of leaving the car there for a service (car has done 18 000 km) but I’m stuck with the problem of the service light. I haven’t seen one yet - does it come on (the wrench) when it is time for a service and is there any software the workshop can purchase to reset it if there is one? Where can I find a workshop manual?

Thank you in advance!

Alex

Hi and welcome Alex - Have you called these dealers, are they ones you don't have confidence in?

Ring the first one, I've heard they're good.

The spanner on the dash doesn't mean it's time for a service, it means there's a minor issue that may have (temporarily) appeared. This is outlined in your owners handbook.

Good chance it's the brake light switch as a guess.

Thanks for the reply! I haven’t got the Spencer present at this point but is there a service light that comes on that will need resetting? The one In Mjölby might be an alternative but as our cold nation is very long the drive is very long indeed, and then coming to a workshop I’m not sure i feel confident in :(

The spanner doesn't indicate any sort of service interval, that's time or mileage dependant only so no, nothing needs to be reset. A visit to a dealer though will involve them plugging it into a Lotus TechCentre which will update any software if required, non-franchised dealers can't do this. This isn't essential, but the ECU's are often updated with better code & settings so is a nice thing to do if you can.
