The Evora's brakes are some of the best in the business.  If you're able to get a copy of the 'making of' book there's a really detailed section on their development.  I found them absolutely superb, in fact, coming from that to an Elise, I find the Elises brakes lacking in stopping power, they aren't really but they do not compare the Evoras braking performance.

100% agree with the above. Evora brakes are immense, particularly in the lightweight NA model. I remember driving mine to an LDA event at Hethel and being very surprised at how ineffective the brakes of the track Elise’s were in comparison. I guess they have no servo, but even with a firm shove, they were not nearly as effective as the Evora. Maybe a bit “worn” too?

Evora brakes are immense but it does not mean they will not fade under more extreme conditions. Brake fade is sometimes brake fluid temperature related, so if Evora is sensitive to this, it would impact the braking power however good the brakes are in more normal driving.

Certainly in my first day's driving, yes the brakes appear excellent. 

My only complaint is the evidence of heavy dust on mine. I have taken one wheel off and it is pretty black in there, so I will give it all a good blast and maybe try Redstuff pads that I have found to be clean in the past

Have you checked to see if the current pads are OEM?  I don’t recall ever having brake dust issues with OEM pads on mine either on road or track.
 

Personally I wouldn’t touch any of the “...........stuff” pads range but maybe it’s just me

Be careful on this one. I purchased this from the seller last July and from day one the air conditioning did not work. Over the following 6 months it spent 13 weeks with a repairer who continually could not permanently fix it. During the time it was with the repairer it developed a weak battery, major water ingress into driver's footwell, weak engine cover struts, rusty air intake, completely rusted out wheel arch liner fixings plus the fan blower control gets too hot to handle when run on full. Mostly minor but air con and water leak could be costly fixes.

The dealer refused to send the car to Bell & Colvill to be fixed properly and the repairer they used told me it was severely corroded for a car of it's age and mileage. They suggested all the air con pipes needed replacing as they had replaced the condenser and switches and fill port etc and it was passing every pressure and vacuum test but within a couple of days of use would have zero gas left.

 I rejected the car in mid-December to the dealer who refused to refund my deposit so it went to the finance company who after 11  weeks accepted the rejection but it took a further 6 months to get my money back as the dealer was not playing ball.

I only returned the logbook and second key last Thursday and the car was still in their storage where it has sat for 8+ months and they had not done anything to it during this time.

It is up for sale at exactly the same price as I paid.

Shame as it was a fantastic car to drive.

Why did it take 6 months as the Finance Company were culpable and whether the dealer coughed up or not was not your issue.  The Finance company stiffed you there matey as if the Dealer didn't cough up they would have still had to pay you.

Completely agree. The finance company was BMW finance as the dealer is a front for a BMW main dealership Chandlers BMW, who the payment went to. BMW finance wouldn't refund the deposit as they obviosuly didnt receive those funds. BmW finance accepted they were 100% liable for it but their senior management decided not to refund me until the dealer agreed to refund me the depaoit5. I had to go to the financial ombudsman and get a judgement in my favour to eventually force the finance company to pay up and even then they took too long.

I ended up getting 11 out of 12 months payments repaid along with deposit and 11 months road fund license and insurance refunded and some compensation.

Lesson learned, get a solicitor straight on it if it happens again. It was a third car for myself as I have a van and a TVR and just wanted seats for my kids so didnt really cause any major hardship and financials arent too tight. Still looking for another Evora.

Yes the pads appear to be originals still (they should be with only 37000kms on the clock) - I think all it is is that the PO kept the visible parts nicely polished, but maybe did not own a Karcher, and it is just three years of dust build up. Anyway, all spotless now albeit calipers a bit stained!

'....stuff' pads are like marmite, some love them and others will not touch them! I have always had a good relationship with redstuff, BUT never tracked them nor I think had to ever use them in real anger.

Sunday morning run with this and have to admit this McLaren looked beautiful, but after following it felt a bit underwhelmed. How much speed do you need on UK B roads Never once did i lose its tailgate. When it came to sound track the 410 embarrassed it.

Quite. On practically any road in the UK you are limited by how fast is sensible rather than your car's ability.

 

Even if you look at straight lines unless the acceleration differences are really enormous you won't pull a big gap until silly numbers are starting to appear. Hence why you should get an NA so you can enjoy the experience for longer

This is even more the case on motorbikes - most recent generation of Fireblade doesn’t get even into its power band until past the motorway speed limit *in first gear* 🤣

i.e. it’s impossible to *ever* ride it the way it’s supposed to be ridden, on the public road. 

Had my first proper B-road blast in the Evora S yesterday - arguably the car’s limits are still too high for enjoying the edge of grip on the public road. So any of the current breed of 500bhp supercars are fairly pointless, and on the track you’re better off in an Exige anyway 👍

Agreed. It has been many years since the speed at which I ride or drive has been determined by the performance of the vehicle as they have all been capable of far in excess of what is actually possible on a public road. I've had FireBlades and similar that so easily nip up to 120 without you even noticing and that can get you sent to jail these days, where I really, really do NOT want to be going. My current FireBlade is naked (I took off all the plastics) to increase comfort and the feeling of speed. That way it's more fun at lower speed. I want to keep riding and driving which means I want to keep my licence and preferably keep it clean. I can ride fast, raced very successfully some years ago, but I cannot ride like that on the road. That would be stupid.

I still want a vehicle that is capable of a lot more than I need to use as that makes it all easy. Less effort than having to try hard to make it go at that speed. But I rarely make use of a fraction of a modern vehicle's capability. Licence preservation and just not having the same urge to dash about everywhere and every time, like I used to in my younger days.

To me it makes a mockery of a 2m car that can actually be used no faster than the cars we love here. In truth, even an Evora is slightly overkill, but within the bounds of acceptability. And I think looks far nicer than the McLaren in the photos above.

I looked into this car......it used to belong to a forum member.....theres some nice pictures of it somewhere on here.

Not sure about current ownership and the ad pictures seem to be from two different times judging by the S badge going missing!

The airbag cover seems quite raised at the front, or is it so common that it’s not worth mentioning and is considered normal?

It is certainly not uncommon, parts are pennies, but the labour to fix it is quite large as it is a dash out job. So unless you can do it yourself.........
