Evora market watch, for discussion and to help those searching!

This seems surprisingly cheap for an S with this service history. 12MY as well, seems to have a 2bular exhaust that the seller (a random trader) doesn’t even know about.

Anyone know the car?

No I have not used them, I bought my evora s from howards weston 18 mths ago, but when I was thinking of changing my car they had a new gt410 sport it was a goodish price,  but i knew that they would be closing and with a new dealer in Bristol at cribbs causeway - that is a pain to get to but it would have had a 3 yr wtee. So i got a 18 plate gt430 from b&c. but now with a new dealer seeming to be opening in exeter...at least i'll have somewhere to visit locally.

I don't know what is happening in Southampton, snows also have an official service centre in Plymouth.

I brought a new 250 Cup from snows in 2016 A factory order from a long time Lotus sales representative sorry can not remember the person’s name and it seems he left the company last year. It was a fantastic deal £1000s of pounds that any other dealerships could get near.

Snows lost Ken last year.   Think the new guy is leaving airway.   Ken was good.  Feel that they've lost their way, since

Ken was the guy I did the deal for my 250 Cup. And like you say was good. Lotus should do more keep sale enthusiast on there books 👍

Just out of interest I googled the reg no and from what I can see it used to belong to a forum member from here (Techyd) but was sold earlier in the year.

One does wonder why it’s up so cheap when the market value for the car (if sound) is probably £5k more. If it’s a trader that means they got hold of it even cheaper too...

Do manuals of this era command a premium over IPS? That’s the only other thing I can think of.

I have read the forum posts of the previous owner and he does mention a potential loss of power which he doesn’t mention if it was resolved or not so maybe that might explain it. Maybe when he sees this thread he might chip in?

Hello, have seen an Evora for sale that I'm interested in. I've had an Evora previously. It was a 2 seater NA manual.

This time I'm after a early IPS Evora with 4 seats in a less shouty colour. I dont mind a bit of a project, but worry that the IPS may have issues or possible problems with the supercharger. Are there any common issues with the IPS or Supercharged cars.

IPS’s aren’t known for any issues, nor the supercharger or engine in general.

Reliability issues with Evoras tend to be itty bitty stuff (electricals, leaks etc) rather than drivetrain. Just have to be aware that manuals need clutches anywhere between 40 and 70k.

Also - on the car above in this thread, get an inspection done to query that issue techyd mentioned about bumper, but otherwise snap it up - as if it’s as techyd left it, it’s a bargain!

Hi guys,

I’m new here and looking to (hopefully) get into my first Lotus! I’ve decided on an Evora 400, I test drove one at the weekend and it was just incredible! I would like an Exige but I need something a little more liveable day to day.

I have spotted these 2 cars that interest me:

Does anyone know of these cars? Or have any advice in general? Any advice on a good Lotus dealer to go through?

Thanks,

Alex

Don't know the car you've posted.  (You've posted the same link twice).  Seems like a decent price, with probably some room to negotiate.

That looks like the Westover showroom in Poole from the picture, but the ad says Hendy - so probably been taken over.  Bought my first Lotus from Westover, and service was generally good.

I'm not overly enamoured with Lotus dealerships in general on the South Coast, so I'm the wrong person to ask.  They all seem to be a bolt-on to another brand, with the exception of Bell & Colvill who most rate, but I've tried to buy from twice with no success.

Mediocre service aside, they're pretty bullet-proof and I'm on my second Evora and way past 80K miles across the cars in 6 years.  Was in exactly the same situation as you in that I needed the practicality, but wanted an Exige.  Two Evoras later, I'm still delighted with the car and brand.

That car is local to me and I considered it this time last summer when I bought my 400. It’s been for sale well over a year but for a large part of that time it was quite a bit more expensive than it is now (last summer it was up for circa £57k). I think the price is much more realistic now and probably has a little more room for negotiation

@DaveC72 hendy bought the Westover group some time towards the end of last year so they’ve been Hendy Sportscars for a while now. Ben and Alex are still there though and helpful advice ever

Ah, thanks Dave.  That's just joined the dots to the recent discussion elsewhere on the forum about a Hendy dealership in Southampton opening up.
