mg4lotus
I think the issue is why it had to have a new clutch at 15k miles and will you get a honest answer. 15k miles is nothing compared to 125k. Is the worn out clutch a symptom of another problem and has that problem been fixed? Did the previous owner continuously do 6.5k rpm starts while slipping the clutch? Does the service history include frequent tyre bills? Do you have regular ECU performance figures in the service history That show abusive usage? pete
Apart from maybe the first point does it matter, the clutch had been replaced Quote hindsight: the science that is never wrong

Judging from the overall condition of the car I feel it’s unlikely it’s been tracked or ragged everywhere. That makes me think it could be something else that they have fixed the symptom and not the cause. I don’t know how common that is with Evoras. Gold FFM C8RKH Posted November 1, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 1, 2020 It's not common. That's the point people are making here. What’s most common with Evoras - is that folks whom own them absolutely love them. 5 Quote Only here once
mg4lotus
Absolutely, we love Evoras. Changing the clutch at 15k is not normal for any road car. If it's a mechanical problem and it's not been fixed then you need to decide if you still want it and how much you are prepared to pay. If it's a mechanical problem and it has been fixed then you need to decide if you still want it and how much you are prepared to pay. If the problem was the previous owner then that is now fixed. You need to assess the wear and tear and if you still want it and how much you are prepared to pay for it. Precautionary replacement of the clutch - Highly unlikely at such a low mileage, the general consensus usually suggests around 40k miles although some can manage over 100k on the same clutch. It would only make sense if you were planning to do over 30k miles per year.
Gold FFM C8RKH Posted November 1, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 1, 2020 I'm confused over all the fuss. If it was people being worried on the clutch on an Exige I'd understand it, as they actually drive their cars hard. Don't most Evora owners spend all their time polishing the silver gear knob and ceramic coating the exterior to avoid the dust settling into their paintwork on the odd occasion when they take their tailored indoor car cover off it? Bruss
Re the clutch I'd want to know why it was changed and what parts were replaced at the same time. Also I'd want to know more about "This example was originally a demonstrator from new " Demonstrator or factory press car?
Gold FFM C8RKH Posted November 1, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 1, 2020 I thought the factory press cars were always very well maintained and thoroughly renovated before being passed out to dealers. Certainly the impression I was given from people in the know on here. As a Demonstrator can't imagine many Dealers endorsing someone really ragging it on a demonstration drive. But I may be wrong. Local Subaru dealer up here, a few years ago, had someone crash at speed an Impreza WRX STI GTE GTD PTSD STD whatever and the driver was killed. Not good PR. Wake
Thanks for all the comments guys. I think I will give this one a miss, I’m maybe being over cautious but I’ve never spent this kind of money on a car before, so it needs to be one I’m comfortable with.
LotusLeftLotusRight
Good call. Your money, your decision. For what it’s worth, I have never sought advance advice from others on the internet about any car I have purchased. Unless one of us happened to own that particular car recently, we can only know a whole lot less than you about it! Plenty more fish in the sea... I am sure you will catch the one you want. It's none of my business clearly and who knows the circumstances, but I'm really annoyed with the winner here, shame on them! I think that price is very optimistic as well. And on another note, some lucky person appears to have snapped up my old Evora too 🙂
electro_boy
Yep bit of a shame it's not been used. I get its a special car and the owner may not want to abuse it but just put some PPF on it and wash it regularly and it will still look great after many many miles. For sure if I had won that, I'd be out driving it all over town!
