Used car prices are still on the up according to

https://www.am-online.com/news/market-insight/2021/03/08/used-car-list-prices-rise-15-in-february  which is some sort of analysis from ebay. A rise of 1.5% would only put a 30k car up by £450, which seems less than some have been talking about above.

Very interesting @Kimbers

Do we have enough data to prove this? With virtually no cars for sale in the lower end of the market I don't see we do?

as always low availability has meant some have raised prices, but are they selling? The Silverstone car is being a great example.

When I got my MY12 S IPS 18months ago Silverstone had it advertised at £36k, now I didn't pay that, but by the basic logic I should be asking £38k for mine and j have spent some money on it to improve it since.

I haven't advertised it but I doubt I would get any calls at that price. I am actually expecting considerably less than that...

One of the 2 silverstone cars has just been removed as sold. The Manual that they had increased from £30-32.

I rest my case milud.

ES Motorsports have their Road "Runabout" for sale. 2011 for £34000............... it might have a few mods at 430HP.

I find it hard to believe the swindon engined motor is still unsold for so long.   I would have snapped it it up if I hadn't already sunk a load of cash modifying my car and also formed an attachment to the car.  My car gets serviced my ES Motorsport and every time I'm over I have to tell my self don't ask for a test drive!

Ah good point. I just assumed it would be similar risk bracket to Evora 430 as the power is similar.  But I guess modifications carry extra burden compared to a car with similar power and components but rolled out of the factory.

Maybe it’s due to the insurance of a modified car? When I asked my broker about the effect an EV430 kit would have on my GTE premium, he basically said “double it”!
I left it standard.

Little impact on my VX220 when I took it from 150bhp to 250bhp with a supercharger. All my mods are "declared" too and there are lots.

I have driven the that car. I am also surprised it hasn't sold. It is very nice- almost as good as mine 🙂

One of the benefits of the NA in particular, but also the other cars is that they are relatively understressed motors. There is no doubt a market for it, but it would stop me from buying it. Just IMHO.

A Lotus is for driving, pork is for breakfast.

I've dropped them a line about it, but haven't ever bought a modified car. It's definitely something I'd need to fully understand before committing.

You will be fine as long as ES is near enough to maintain and service it. Other Lotus dealers may be unfamiliar with its tuning.  I come from France to let ES service my car. They do a good job.

I have to declare an interest. They helped Lotus motorsport adapt my car and looked after my previous Evora for servicing and my race car.

I live a fairly short hop for Bell and Colville, so unfortunately ES aren't too local. Tbh, I think I'd be much more comfortable with an unmodified car, but always good to keep an open mind.

ES are superb. Maybe I should get Commission for this as I have referred several people to it today plus posted it on here.

I have seriously considered it. I really have. But my NA has so many mods I am happy with it.

ES have serviced and maintained my car recently and sorted out an issue with the engine and dyno'd it at 314HP which is awesome so those mods worked @C8RKH!  But don't anyone doubt that ES have made an unreliable car or Mods beyond its capability as they really know their stuff even down to the fact that one of their mechanics is my old mans, right hand man's son!

As great as ES are (most of the work and servicing on my car has been done by them), their dyno is very generous. My car made over 500fhp at one point! (425fhp is a fairer figure, as dyno’d elsewhere).

If it was a Porsche it would have been 1000fhp as everyone knows they under spec their cars :)

I've had a modified car before, I enjoyed it being 'my own' spec and it was fun to get it where I wanted it to be, however, whilst it didn't make a huge difference to premiums, it did cut down the amount of decent quoting insurers substantially and made it a lot more effort to shop around and get insurance every year. Not a massive pain to be fair but enough to make me also enjoy not having a modified car!

I, personally, would be concerned because when I went to get insurance on the Evora, specialists were more expensive than the generic 'go compare' bunch which is weird.

Hmmm, was that maybe because they included the "free track day" insurance that you may or may not have asked for?  It's a real bonus having it when you track your car as per event it can be £75 - £125 which really starts to add up.

Haha, can’t get away from the free track day insurance offer with my broker. Not that I’ve ever used that service.

Also funny, the difference in premium between laid-up insurance and my normal limited mileage policy was negligible. It makes no sense to me!

@kimbers what mods have you done!  Yours is +1 bhp more than mine ☹️   I'll have to chat to Dave to see if he can find an extra HP for my car.

For anyone concerned about a modified car from ES Motorsport, for sure there is always increased risk by modifying it but also in my opinion I think they look to build a reliable car too.  They dissuaded me from doing certain mods to my car as they would give little power benefit for a lot of risk.

One thing to bare in mind is the fact you hat car has stand alone management (ecu) which means you can’t read OBD faults as normal so essentially you could end up having to use ES motorsport for everything. Not a bad thing at all as they are ace, but not so great if you live miles away!!

I'll have to double check I have the Delta 800 ECU in my car and I thought the OBD reader was operational?   No idea as there haven't been any faults so I haven't had the opportunity to check.

But also it's possible the aftermarket ECU could be easier to debug as it uses standard serial port which many garages may be able to interface with and the software is freeware.  As apposed to the Lotus specific diagnostic software which as far as I know costs quite a lot of money so unlikely to find a garage with this thats not a Lotus main dealer or specialist.
