Thanks, he had actually serviced my car the year before I bought it, however I live in SE England, perhaps the geography and mine being done only in 2019, explain such a large differential?

Forget the engine as a differentiator, both are great options with their own merits. Buy based on condition, history and your preference re spec. The NA is a sub 5 second car so hardly slow and the S gives you an extra .3 off the 0-62 time and a bit more torque for overtaking, however the NA is the sweeter engine, lower centre of gravity and far cheaper to run (tyres, tax, and fuel) and you get to really "drive" the NA whereas you can make rapid "lazy" progress in the S.

Out of interest where did the notion that the N/A tyres are cheaper? I read this often and it baffles me.

The optional 19"/20" wheels were launched at the same time as the S and were an option on both variants. The take up was also pretty much the same for both variants from that point onwards, approx. 90-95%

The only true statement that can be made is that Evora's prior to 2011 would have cheaper tyres.

Apologies, my NA had the 18/19 wheels and I had thought S cars came with 19/20 as standard. My mistake.

No need to apologise, it is a general assumption it seems across the board, I could have picked out many posts that mention it. Just wondered where it stemmed from. 

To be honest I've read so many inaccuracies over the years regarding the Evora. Highlights include the original Evora wheels being off a SAAB, the interior door handles being off a Civic. I can't believe people just don't look at the size differences and work out they're obviously not. I even saw Absolute Lotus magazine putting it in print as fact.😄

I think this has been conflated with the "S" going through it's tyres appreciably quicker, so it does cost more in tyres as you need them more often whichever wheels are fitted. From what I have seen c6K on a set of rears as opposed to c10k on an NA. The S seems to wear the inner edges far worse. I've seen lots of "S" down to the carcass on the inner edge, never seen that on an NA.

When I got the TVS1900 upgrade I also got a geo done too. I have since done circa 9k miles including just one trackday. At the time of the geo a set of new rears were fitted of the non - LTS spec Pirelli's (LTS variant was not available in time). The tyres continue to wear remarkably well without signs of the inner wear trait I experienced before.

Maybe worth having the geo checked and adjusted?

It is definitely GEO related. I went through the inner edge of my first set of Pirelli Corsa tyres in no time. Had the GEO checked and never had the issue again (admittedly I am now driving on 18/19 as opposed to the first set being 19/20). The S needn´t be much more expensive on tyres.

Why, the Pirelli Pzero's I had on my NA were just epic and where my first choice to put back on. In fact they are OEM fitment still on some serious exotics.

Indeed, but the consensus seems to be that the Michelin’s are the better tyre. I am very happy with them on my other car, so willing to try them in the Evora.

Nothing wrong with the Pirellis except they wear out quickly. When they need changing other similar grip tyres are available that don't wear so fast.

Hi all,

I've been catching up on this thread and will continue to follow, I'm currently advertising my TVR Griffith 500 (let me know if you know anyone who might be interested!) once sold I'll be in the market for an approx £30k NA Evora. I ended up using the TVR less than expected as I struggled to justify the fuel economy of the old 5ltr V8 and the handling wasn't quite as precise as I'd like, I previously had a Westfield for 5 years that went around corners on rails unless you pressed the loud pedal so a bit of a contrast. I know a 10 year old Evora won't compete with efficiency focussed modern cars but should be significantly better than the TVR (20mpg on a motorway run and 10ish around town or pushing), I have taken an Evora S for a test drive so I know it ticks my handling box, a couple of Elises in the family so I knew I could rely on Lotus for that! Since the TVR I'm with the group that enjoy pushing the car and the S felt a little fast for public roads, so I'd be happy with the NA, straight line speed doesn't matter to me too much.

There are a couple on the market that interest me so I'm hoping the TVR sells in the next couple of weeks and then I'll have the cash in my pocket ready to go! 

Must Haves: 2+2, NA, working aircon

Nice to haves: Cruise control, heated seats, recent clutch, sports racer model, CR box

I used to have TVR’s, started with an S3, then a Griff 400 and finally a Griff 500. I do still fancy finding a Griffith 4.3 BV and tucking it away and have always wanted a Cerbera. 
 

However you will find the Lotus is in a different league. My S would leave any of them for dead 99% of time, sure a NA would as well. The Lotus running costs (touch wood) have been nothing compared to my TVRs. I never added up what I spent on running them but it would be very scary. Every service on my Griff I never seemed to have change from £1000 and the Cerbera is another level of pain again. Wonderful cars through that really get under your skin.

Have you thought about part ex’ing your Griff for a NA? Not sure what price you’d get. Will Blackham has a couple of nice Evoras in and may take your Griffith.

I thought about PX on the Griff but have asked the specialist that I bought it off to move it on for me, he has good contacts and can offer a 6 months warranty on it for a reasonable sales fee. It's priced pretty competitively at just under £24k, my service costs weren't too bad on it but I did all the work myself. I like the T350 & Cerbera but would always worry about the TVR straight six motor going pop, not such a worry with the Toyota V6 in the Evora.

You'll enjoy the change to bring able to keep your foot down and enjoy the build of thrust whilst bit doing silly speeds (though you still need to be careful!)

Should be easy to find one with cruise control, so if you want it/use it then I'd probably put it in the must column. Heated seats more difficult, you would need a later model as wasn't available at launch. I would say it's not that essential anyway vs. other packs. You can always retro fit a solution if you are adamant.

You want the sports pack in my opinion especially if you are coming from a big V8 and your buying decision for an NA is based on stretching it's legs you'll want the extra revs.

SR will be very difficult to find both in general (around 45 NA in total I think?) and at that price. It's nice to have but I would say the biggest issue with the LE vs. SR is noise which is relatively easily fixable. LE is a bit softer as well IMO and has slightly more magic carpet ride. The LE would have been up there with my Jag on ride from my experience, the SR is firmer. Still comfortable but with more bite especially on secondary ride.

Don't worry too much. If you buy on condition you will get a good car at that price. They also wear miles well so don't worry too much about that either. It's a fairly easy car to buy as long as you can find one!

Yes I keep mine with Pirelli on my NA alway gave me great feedback.

Yea that airbag cover needs work for sure, and it’s not a +2 which kills it for me. Otherwise it looks a nice car that, colour is great spec is good.
