Ciao Lotus friends,

I have at the moment installed in the car the EX390 package and seriously thinking in the near future to install the EX460 package.

Anyone with an Exige IPS installed it? I would like to have some feedback with the IPS gearbox.

Thanks guys.

Hmm,

Not really recommended, the gearbox is not going to support that much power, best to restrict to 410 at most.

Komotec themselves do not recommend it either

I would like to know this info too I,m at this moment waiting on some komotec info as I,m probably going down the dsg gearbox route when its available with a upgrade to 460 ish I,m currently running around 380 ish and have had a fair few issues which could be the ips computer not liking things......

I know two Exige IPS with EX460 kit installed by Komotec itself. One is owned by a member of this forum,

And I should test the other one, end of august on track....

I am in the same position here : I am thinking about this upgrade, but the slowness of the gearbox is a weak point, and I have sometimes strange behaviors on track :  for example at Magny Cours in the 180 corner, if I take the inside racing line, I don't know why the downshift is so so so slow, it's like the car refuses to do it. I got exactly the same behavior at Ledenon in the " le cavelet" corner. Maybe the speed and the constraints on the car are the reason... I don't know.

I will share my experience with the EX460 IPS once the test is done.

For me automatic gearbox is mandatory (it s not a choice) , without a reliable and efficient solution, I have two options : buying an Evora GT430 or moving to a another brand.

What a shame that the Exige does not have the Evora GT430 IPS gearbox...

Geartox looking forward to your test impressions.

I am not having this issues at the moment for the shiftings on track. I think depends on the fact that here we have only one track available ( Losail ) so no chance for different corners to try.

Usually you use the car in race mode or all off?

Turbo911 which issues are you having?

I'm running the SSC tvs upgrade and not one single issue on track and for me i like the gearbox, up changes are very slow in response but when you get the hang of things you can upshift a little earlier and down shifts are fine, i just keep getting gearbox error codes and the car going into limp mode on a regular basis ( when road driving), Hopefully this is now sorted as the latest gearbox software as been installed i haven't really tried it since but i,m hopefull this will now be a thing of the past, as i said no issues on track which is very frustrating as i could put it down to the gearbox struggling with the extra power and heat, it seems to happen a few days later when driving normally on the road, i would love a 460 with the IPS box fingers crossed....

If I remember Daniel correctly the IPS is the real constraint for the EX460 kit as this exceeds the IPS torque limits on full throttle. Resultingly you will be getting less than 460 HP in lower gears where the ECU programmed limits cut ins. Daniel recommended the 410/430 HP packages at most.

However I would add that it depends on your climate. The EX460 includes the charge cooler, which means the engine doesn't lose as much power at higher temperatures (@geartox, as we have in Southern France).

When I spoke with Komotec they informed me about the fact that I will not get all the 460 hp loosing around 20 hp, but in my opinion still will be a big improvement of the car performances. Regarding the gearbox I was told I should not have issues with it but all we know is a question of luckiness, maintenances and proper use of the car. If you want to play problems can happen. In My place get really hot usually so I was looking for the charge cooler included in the EX460 kit to keep everything cool and avoid other problems. For this reasons I am looking for some real experiences from owners of EX460 kit with IPS gearbox.

Anyway until now I can only say that Komotec make amazing kits. Really worth them in my opinion and they know what they are doing.

It’s worth noting that the charge cooler does seem to reduce the performance of the air conditioning in hot climates.  My 460 is absolutely fine when moving, but if you get stuck in traffic the air conditioning really struggled to produce cold air.

Thanks for this interesting aspect GFWilliams. I think you forget immediately about this when you fully open the throttle.😂😂😂

Fortunately our cars here have double AC compressor. One extra unit in the back. I think will end up in the same situation anyway.

Good observation, I had the same impression in the last weeks. I hadn't looked further into it as I have the roof at this time and the A/C is of no use anyway.

It has always been an issue with  Lotus that the fresh air intakes are located just behind the radiator.

I think you have answered your question, Evora GT430 the auto box is awesome on fast road drives, not tracked car yet however, but doubt you will have any issues with  speed of up/down shifts.
