Fuel Lines Upgrade

Most of you know by now that I am seriously upgrading my 90 SE. Thus far I have a Garrett GT3071 turbo with RC injectors, a larger chargecooler and a walbro pump along with a WC eprom. When I spoke to John at WC about my car he suggested that I increase the size of the fuel lines to AN -6. Well, I have been to many speed shops and all over the internet looking for a way to do this, but every time I think I have found a solution they take one look at the current fuel line fittings and shake their head. I have tried Earls, Aeroquip etc and no one seems to make fittings that will work with the fuel rail, plenum nozzle and tank connections. They are compression fittings with an o-ring seal which seems to be like power steering fittings It almost seems that if I want to upgrade I would have to drill and tap the fuel rail and plenum nozzle as well as install new fittings on the fuel tank. I can't believe there is nothing out there that works. I know people on this forum have upgraded their fuel lines. I am desperate here, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Beat me to it! You'll need an adapter to go from the GM fittings to AN fittings. I'm not sure what the size is, take one of your fuel lines to home depot and see if it's a pipe thread fitting.

If only it was that easy. I have tried just that and can't seem to find anything that will work with the GM stuff, though I have not gone to home depot yet But one must question how large the line is running from the pump out of the tank. There is no point to installing -6 lines if the line out of the tank is to small. Either way I am going to drop karmavore a pm and see if he can shed some light on the situation.

any good engineering shop should be able to make fittings for you......I've had loads done for my car.....

That is sort of what I am looking into doing right now. Although karmavore seems to have done it with aeroquip fittings and no custom stuff. I have taken the the lines to numerous custom shops with no luck so far...we shall see.

Lucas (Karmavore) is using John Welch's (WC Eng) fuel rail. John showed me this fuel rail last time I saw him in St. Louis. It is a modified rail, the AN fittings have been welded on.

That's pretty much what you would want to to do prevent leaks...

What about the fittings into the Plenum nozzle and fuel tank? Changing the fuel rail is not that big of a deal, but if I have to re tap the holes in the plenum nozzle and install new fittings on the tank...now its going to be a pain in the a$$ I will call John over at WC and see what he suggests.

Alright, I have put in a call to John at WC since I still have not had much luck. In the mean time does anyone know what car the fuel rail is from? It says "Made in USA" on the side and one of the shops I took it to suspects it

Well my search has come to an end. After messing around for over a week trying to figure out what fittings you need I finally got the information. I ended up figuring out some of the fittings, but decided to call John at WC to see what he thinks. Sure enough he knew exactly what fittings you need and said that figuring it out was a total bear. Either way all is well and once I get all the parts in and make sure it all works out I will post a LEW article about how to upgrade to AN -6 lines since it is such a HUGE pain to find the fittings...thank goodness John at WC is around!
