Anyone Currently Running Dunlops ?

Recommended Posts

I wanna get hold of a set but they seem to be a bit hard to find for the rears 295/35/R18.

I've also heard not so good things about them as far as grip and durability are concerned vs their cost.

Really need Dunlops for the project (the lettering on the walls is painted) but if they're going to be cost ineffective and not much use for track days I'll stick with Toyos.

I am, 285's though not 295's, no problems here, actually pretty good but I've only done about 4k on them yet.

I have Dunlops but only 285 here too! I'd swear by them in the wet and dry.

When I first bought my V8 I took it to the Esprit driver training day and it was pissing down. I manage to get the quickest time in the time trial. I think second place was also running Dunlops too!

When mine are due for reoplacement, I'll use Dunlops again.

They have a mixed view by others but that's wht we have forums to express our opinions.

I guess I am the outlier here - I hated mine. I thought they had terrible grip, especially in cooler weather. I am assuming you are referring to the 9000 series tires. If you mean the SP (pseudo R-comound tire I don't think they are making anymore) they were actually pretty good.

If you cahnge your searrch parameters to 245/40-17 and 295/35-18, you will have a much larger selection of tires and these will fit just fine. Of the tires I have used on various cars including Bridgestone PP SO-2 and SO-3, Re711, Michelin MXX3, Kuhmo MX, BFG KDW2 and Michelin PS2, I liked the Dunlops the least. Best bang for the buck, in my opinion, is the Kuhmo MX.

Stay well,

Paul

I had a set of W10's. I hated them! They gave a lot of vibration through the stereing column and a lot of road noise. As for the 9000's or SP9000's, I have no experience with them. I have ran the Michelin Pilot Sports and I now have a set of SUmitomo's amd they are GREAT!!! My Nike's come in third place. Excellent grip, it's cornering ability is a little shaky though... ;) On your mark, get set...........

I use the Goodyear F1's and think they are great. Wet weather grip is excellent, dry weather is very responsive and they last well too.

I have gone to the 285's on the rear of the S350 so that I can stick with the F1s. I can't say I have notice any difference due to the lack of width. ;)

cheers

i'm with paul and chris on this one.. didn't like my dunlops - the bridgestones I had and later Eagle F1's were much better tyres IMO.

Jon - you need to talk to Dom Benfall - last time I saw his car he had some sticky track-biased rubber fitted up to 18" oz novas, and i THINK from memory they were dunlops.. they had a big (yellow?) dunlop logo on the side. Very "race".. ;)

I've got the dunlops on the V8 and so far have been quite impressed with them. Seem to give decent levels of grip in the wet and the dry.

Thumbs up from me.
