Can somebody please tell me how to get this stud out of the rear hub carrier...

Carefully, mine has been done this week but I had GST do it.

There is a guide Jonathan wrote on Lew. They can be welded if you break it. Lotus are on a long term back order apparently.

I'd suggest soak it thoroughly with a good penetrating oil for a few days, and consider heating it using boiling water, or blow torch (I'd avoid gas welding kit).

As aluminium has a higher coefficient of expansion is should reduce the friction on the joining surfaces (slightly), and that may also help some more penetrating oil get in there.

You may have to sacrifice the steel rod and put it in a vice then gently try and turn the aluminium carrier to break it free.

Thanks for the LEW link Fred - I've just read it and it seems a real pig to get out!!

Andy - yes I think I shall go for the 'clamp it in the vice and twist' method first. I'll probably get the blow lamp on it as well just to help the thing along a bit!!
