All,

Essex 100 for sale by SCW.

just curious what the prices have been doing on these (they are nearly all POA; so difficult to tell from a distance).

I used to enjoy buying classic car mags and look at the adverts to see what Id buy if I had a 100K or 200K etc

Then all the ads started being POA. I think mags should make the companies list prices or else there is no point.

It was Mark Thatcher's.  It'll be worth extra as it's a car he didn't get lost in.

You can’t be sure of that it might be less .

I am just waiting to see if I get any decent offers in or I will keep it .

I'm curious as to the benefits of advertising POA?

It doesn't work on me (quite the opposite actually) but it must work on others.

So what benefits are there?????

Just because a car is advertised at a certain price; does not mean there is any obligation to sell it for that price if suddenly a glut of higher offers come in.

Advertising a car; like any other product, is an invitation to buy.

Does a prospective seller approach the vendor and then the vendor gives the price, or is there an expectation for the prospective buyer to make an offer?

Thoughts???

Cheers

Mark

As with any car, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it, I guess POA is the logical conclusion of that. Interested parties will pick up the phone.

Still though, it's not quite as interesting for spectators.

Car looks amazing.

It helps to make the asking price anonymous for google search histories. That’s my only thought.

id love an Essex, I really would, but I know what it’ll fetch and can’t afford one. I won’t lower the tone and talk hard ££ as that isn’t polite. Anyone in the know - frankly they know 👍

Barry's already got an Essex, a Sport 300 and a pristine S1 hidden in his chicken shed. I know this, he's just employing diversionary tactics

He's waiting for an announcement that someone in his neck of the woods has won the lottery, then they will all come out and his Evora 400, his V8 and the GT3 currently advertised. and you can bet your bottom dollar, that van get's the heave. New engine or not.

You lot have got this completely wrong again, Barry doesn't have an Essex or a Sport 300 or evan an S1, no, and all this underhand talk of barn conversions and chicken sheds.

That's where he keeps his comprehensive Porsche collection.:sofa:

Ouch, that was a real low punch. :popo:

  • Thanks 1

"Sort after" The advert says it's "sort after".

Seems like an odd sought of thing to claim.

I would love this car. If my numbers come up tomorrow, I shall be on the phone first thing. That said, good question, should it have Lotus Essex on the cam covers? Or did some of them not have this?

Cam covers - some did some didn't. Oddly enough the ex US Essex copy Esprit does have the "Essex" cam covers.

Has your one got Essex cam covers Barrie ?

I know out of the four I have had two of them did and the other two didn’t. Saying that number 018 didn’t have them but the owner had managed to get some which he gave me so really only one out of the four had them .

Hi Mark

Yes it does.

I had a good look at No. 100 when Ken Baird was selling it at the same time I was looking to buy 011. No. 100 had had a small fortune spent on it at SJ but in the end I went for 011
