Evora bumper material - Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC/Other - The Lotus Forums Jump to content

Is the Evora bumper plastic or fibreglass? I've noticed a very slight colour variance between the bumper and the clamshell in certain light. It's the type of variance you would see sometimes on light coloured cars between the metal bonnet and plastic bumpers.

Many thanks

When I took mine off (2009 Launch Edition) to replace the rear camera the recycling identifier said it was ABS.

Thanks guys, does anyone know if the bumpers are painted in a different location to the fibreglass panels?

All the panels are mounted to a jig and painted together. 24 seconds into this...

Thanks Bibs, interesting video. The slight colour variation between my bumper and the clam seems to be down to the difference in the materials then rather than being painted in different locations. It's not noticeable in photos at all but I notice it sometimes with my eye depending on the light.

It’s more noticeable in certain colours.

Even on Mainstream cars, it’s apparent at times. Robot painted etc.

It seems to be - I came across this post where a new Boxster had a very noticeable colour variation:

To @pkn, maybe your bumper has subsequently been painted (when off the car)?

Did think that was a possibility but my detailer took paint gauge measurements which were consistent across all the panels and bumpers. It's not obvious thankfully and only visible with the naked eye in certain light. It actually took me a few weeks to notice it.

I found this image of another solar yellow evora which seems to have a very, very slightly darker bumper compared to the clamshell.

The S1 front end does look very classy IMHO.

Timeless as well. 😎
