S3 Turbo Fuel Problem

Recommended Posts

:)

Hi, any advice please.

I have a problem I just cant fix.

When I try to start the car, I get fuel filling up the exhaust manifold & the sump.

I've just replaced the needle valves for the second time, and the car top has a tapped hole (it's a replacement top) that needs blanking - and no fuel comes out there - so I'm not sure that it,s the float chambers that are overfilling.

Are there any areas of the carbs (pump jet mechanism?) that could get fuel where it's ending up?, or the pressure regulator etc.

As I say, I'm getting desperate as, if nothing else, it's costing a fortune in wasted petrol, and replaced sump oil.

Thanks

You might want to start by hooking up a pressure guage to the carb inlet to check to see if it is a pressure regulator problem. The fuel pump is a high pressure unit and can easily over pressure the carbs if the pressure regulator is faulty. You can also check the return line from the pressure regulator and make sure it isn't restricted either. If you have the factory manual all this will be easily followed otherwise take it to someone with the necessary knowledge.

Good luck,

Jeff

Thank you everyone.

Eurocarb, who have been most helpfull also think it's a regulator problem.

This makes sense, as what's the chances of both carbs have an unusual problem at the same time.

I'll give it a go

Once again thanks
