TPMS sensor battery failure symptoms?

Recommended Posts

When turning on the ignition and no tyre pressures are displayed the electrical fault light shows for 30 seconds. If turning the car on with tyre pressure information being displayed then there's no electrical fault light. When staring cold there's never any pressure data, when stopping for a short period (less than 5 minutes) then there's a 50/50 chance of having tyre pressure data when starting the car. If there is no TPMS data or the tyres are cold then it may take a long time (> 10 minutes) before displaying a tyre pressure change.

Would this be symptomatic of TPMS sensor battery failure? This certainly wouldn't be out of the question as the sensors appear to be the original 9 year old items.

The sensors always take a few minutes of movement to wake up and display pressures so its normal not see any pressures when starting the car
