au-yt
Just a side note, I had a friend admiring my 400 and as he is 6’7” he recorded he wouldn’t fit. He did.
au-yt
Seems we arnt the only ones who love the EVORA 400, R&T list it as one their Favorite Cars of 2018 They aren't necessarily new. They aren't necessarily the best. But they struck a chord with us for one reason or another. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/g25423122/our-favorite-cars-of-2018/ Before the Evora 400, I'd never driven a Lotus outside of a video game. It's a brand I love, whose philosophy speaks to me, but I was worried I'd be disappointed. After all, Lotus is a company that's barely turned a profit in its 70 years of existence, and it doesn't have nearly the development budget of, say, Porsche This car didn't disappoint. It's engaging at every speed ,with inputs that are judged to perfection; it's beautiful and distinct, but never ostentatious; its handling is world-class, while ride quality remains excellent; it's just plain cool. Basically, it's everything I want in a sports car, and exactly what a Lotus should be. —Chris Perkins, Web Editor Edited December 21, 2018 by au-yt

Popular Post jep
Just to add to the Evora love, I bought my 2010 Evora from B&C in Feb 2018. I have not been without one Lotus or another since 1992, having started with a S1 Esprit and through every variant of Esprit (except V8) plus a few Europa (Type 65), Elise, Elan (Type 100) and Excel. I have always wanted an Evora but various events and other toys stood in its way. I debated about a 400 or 345bhp S but decided to dip my toe with an early 276bhp car. For me, it had to have CR gearbox, sport button and 'anything but black' interior. B&C came up trumps with a 50,000 miler and offered a full one year warranty (as the clutch was still the one it left the factory with...…). I have had a few fast cars in my time, so I thought 276bhp would feel very tame. In truth, I was anticipating seeing if I liked the general feel of the car and if smitten, I would switch to a more powerful version. 6,000 miles in and I am more than delighted with the sensation of speed the singing V6 provides. Many a time (and every day this week) I have steered my steed in the early morning light to a deserted country road, just to flick it from 2nd to 3rd at 6500rpm, back off and do the same again, corner after corner, straight after straight. Roads that my Twingo 133 would balk at as too bumpy and uneven are dismissed as mere trifles by the supple and sublime Evora. And, to be fair, so do other Lotus successfully negotiate the dodgy cambers down that same causeway. The Evora, in my eyes, exceeds these other Lotus as it offers more in a host of different circumstances. My word, I love my Excel but I am not sure, no I am certain I would not want to do a 2 week road trip across Europe in it. Especially if it rained a lot. Likewise the Elise, one of my favourite cars of all time but nothing like as versatile as Evora. And nor should it be. The Evora gives me all the thrills of other Lotus, mildly diluted but still a winning cocktail. Justin
EGTE
Great post, Justin. My Evora (non-S) is my first Lotus, after many "greats" that never quite hit the spot (or lasted long). I use it every day I can and really cannot even contemplate selling it.
Popular Post au-yt
I just did a Lotus Only track day on Australia's most famous race Circuit, Mt Panarama. The event is organised by the Australian Dealers Simply Sports Cars (Lotus Cars Australia , LCA)who supply full organisation and full Tech support. The track is a tourist road 60 mph and only closed for trac events a couple of times a year and this event was at the tail end of the Liqui Molly 12 Hour. The Lotus international sales manager, Mark Fullalove was there doing “shakedown's” on 430 Evora and Exiges. Lucky ... The LCA event is a track experience with 3 levels, I did just the drive section, so it's up to you as to how fast you go. 112 cars in total, 30 + cars at a time let loose under race rules complete with flag martials. 4x 25minute section on a 4 mile Circuit that climbs 570 feet from pit straight. Holly frigging dooly what a car, my times got better as my confidence in myself improved I'm sure the car was going is that all you've got! au-yt
Well one year on and the more I drive my 400 the more I realise how good these cars are. I have a favourite drive to and from the the south of the city. Returning home on Friday morning phone in its screen mounted holder, WAZE app on, Spotify playing, as I went through a series of tight sweeping corners 🤐 , I got a huge smile as the screen on my phone was electronically swing from left to right, as it tried to work out which was up. I love this thing.
Popular Post au-yt
Its now 2020 year 4 for the 400, and the world is in a mess, but my EVORA ventures haven't , I did a 900 k country NSW trip out west for a wedding and visit friends, and family. B/C roads for the majority. I have only had one other car than my 400 that have had lasting strong positive memories about fantastic road trips but that was over 30 years ago. I could have bought a range of exotica for the money the 400 cost, however the ownership bills would have equaled the depreciation of the 400 and spent much more time off the road and not any where as good on it.
Gm77
So, after starting this thread almost two years ago, I thought I would update it with the news that I have decided now is the time to sell the 400. The car has been brilliant throughout my almost 5 years of ownership, its just not getting used as much as it used to. That hasn't been helped by the lockdown, but additionally work in the future is likely to involve a lot less travel so my uses for a practical sports car have decreased significantly. I rarely have time to disappear out for drive for an extended period of time on some nice roads so it comes out the garage only when I need to go to the shop with the children - prefering to take one of my other cars if it is just me running solo. If anyone is interested in a metalic grey, red leather interior, manual with 24k miles on the clock, let me know. It will undoubtedly be a sad day though when it finally departs. Gashead1105
It's a shame... As Greg knows, I toy with moving mine on but I'm hoping that my numbers come up before I actually pull the trigger on doing so!
