You are going to love it, came from S2 240 sprint to my 250 cup.Your car looks great and in a great colour, totally agree about the hardtop and all the other options you mentioned apart from the Alcantara sills, just feel they would show wear so quickly and the standard leather sills look great and take all hammer you can give them, unlike the plastic ones on earlier Elise and Exige models.

Thanks Scotty.

A bit of a risk regarding the alcantara sills but as the vents are trimmed in alcantara I like the transition from the vent to the sills.

Going for some other small interior mods but not finalised yet but I will share when and if done.

Good choice :)

Did we chat at the 70th event?

Probably, I spoke to so many people I have forgotten who they were. It's an age thing.

Hey Paul,

Good for you. Was it my car that persuaded you when we were in Ypres?

Looking forward to seeing it.

Hi Peapod

I've also just ordered (2 weeks ago) a new Cup 250 with a similar spec to to your but in Solid Yellow, Ive also gone with the full Alcantara interior, I think it looks the best. I was told that the Cup 250 were not being build now till November because they are changing the tyres it comes on. On another post its been mentioned it my be A052s, have been told which tyres they will come on?

Mboy,

Mine has A048s on it as it has already been built. There is a post on the playground regarding the phasing out of semi slick tyres. I also noticed that the Cup 260 comes with AD08Rs.

Solid yellow was also one of my choices as I did not want to go for a metallic colour.

Hello Matt,

Yours did start me thinking and then I saw the blue Cup 250 at Hethel which pushed me towards the decision even further.

I want to protect the spats on the rear arch from stone chip damage, I am already having the front of the rear arch fitted with paint protection film, what have you used? I was thinking a matt helicopter tape or wrapping it in matt black film.

Paul.

Hi Paul, I used matte PPF only. That’s all it needs.

I use special stuff made for Red Bull but Xpel does do a matte Stealth PPF now which I’m sure you can buy in sheets.

Mibe has been on for over a year now and is still working a treat.

At the Lotus 70th do, the only car that I could replace my Exige S2 with was the blue Cup 250 that was on display.

Then followed the spec my car game and my spec was as follows:

Colour - not sure but like Sky Blue

Hard top

Alcantara sills and steering wheel

AC

Interior colour pack

Cruise control

Floor mats

Just needs to sell my pride and joy after 12 years of ownership but can't wait for the Elise to be ready.

I'm in a very similar situation, though my thought process started at Goodwood

My Exige S2 is coming up for 12 years old and I am getting VERY tempted by a 250 cup. It will break my heart to sell my Exige, but I do feel it might be time to move on. I've never had a Lotus for so long in my 32 year Lotus history

My Exige is in Autumn Gold, one of only 2 Exige's, and I now realise that it is that uniqueness of my car that has made me keep it.

So, it may come down to colour choice. I certainly would have all the panels colour coded leaving only the aero bits in black

Possible colour choice: vivid green, liquid yellow, fire red, or go all out and suffer the cost implication of staying with autumn gold

Steve,

I think Autumn Gold would be stunning and totally unique, especially with silver wheels.

Search for Neal H on here as he had all of the black bits body coloured and you will get the idea of what it would look like.

And as Bibs said, I do like Daytona Blue and I saw an Evora in it and it wore the colour well.

Will be sorry to see my Exige go, but things move on and if I didn't do the deal now I never will.

I do like Daytona colours. Here is my Mk1 Escort in Daytona Yellow.

Matt,

Could not find Xpel on line over here that would sell sheets direct, but found a supplier here who does a matte clear film. At least if it is no good I can peel it off.. https://www.wrapdirect.com/

Paul I have Matte 3M PPF  applied to my spats been on my car for nearly 2years and have done a great job and still as good as the day it went on, the one thing about Matte PPF is that it is not as adhesive as gloss PPF, any matte finish like the spats is not ideal to apply PPF. If you have problems getting it to stick it could be a good idea to apply gloss first and then Matte over the top.

Congrats on joining the Elise Cup club! I love my 220 Cup.

for the spats, I’m about to fit some Matt black aftermarket protectors that I like the shape of - if for any reason I’m not happy once they’re on, I’m going to order some of the Elise 260 Cup ‘sharkfin’ protectors - these are now visible on deroure.com, the Lotus parts website

I'm really pleased with how mine turned out and much prefer it with the matt black bits in body colour - including the rear wing. The Elise Cup cars are definitely the spiritual successors to the S2 Exige :)

Then came my biggest mistake, I called into Bell and Colvill and they happened to have a new Daytona Blue Cup 250 in stock with AC, stereo and sound insulation. A chat with Jamie and he has added all of the extras I wanted plus paint protection to the rear clam and below the doors for a vey reasonable price and well below list. I am also taking advantage of the 50-50 deal and the car comes with 3 years free servicing.

Just needs to sell my pride and joy after 12 years of ownership but can't wait for the Elise to be ready.

Congrats - it’s a stunning car. I went in to buy it the day after you made the purchase. Will have another Daytona Blue 250 Cup coming to Bell & Collvill for me next month :)

When I put the deposit on the car Jamie said there was someone coming to look at it. He locked the doors on the car soon afterwards :D

Look forward to seeing yours Scott and see how different it is. I have seen similar cars with white 250 lettering compared to the black on mine. Probably a typical Lotus thing as that is what they had to hand at the time.

Normally, it’s dark lettering on light colour cars and dark lettering on light colour cars.
