Another Convert To Lotus

As I was sitting at some Traffic lights this morning, a young Mum (quite a Babe) was escorting her 5-6 year old son to school. I had the windows down and the lid up, so I heard ..."no Darling, that's a Lotus!" as they walked past.

By the time the time the lights changed, the young lad was staring intently - eyes wide- as I drove by.

'That's another one converted,' I thought.

One less for the prancing horse.

Well done Alan :respect:

In 20 years time, there'll be a group of Lotus enthusiasts who all grew up in south west Milton Keynes... within 200 yards we had my car, Chelsea Martyn's V8, and an S4s, plus the occasional visit by Jason Kite's SE - oh, and Malc Holmes was only a mile away and he's got about eleventeen Esprits on his front drive now

I used to get shouts of "Nice Lotus, mate!" from the kids - obviously they were getting a proper education

oh..this reminds me about the 1st night I drove my Esprit to meet my cousin.

he was still in the movie theatre, so I parked the car near a traffic light and waited.

most people walked by had no idea about what an Esprit is, and many thought it's a classic Ferrari (haha)

and many Mitsubishi EVOs and Subaru STis slowed down and stared at my car as they passed by.

I will never forget that moment.

Yesterday I had someone ask me where it was made. Normally that would be a fair question around where I live, but we were at a car show and this guy had a 1979 XJ6. :respect:

Huh? A 1979 what? :rofl::lol:

Did you study the rear badges a while, and then ask him in your best southern drawl "So who makes a Jagwire then?"

A white Stevens SE was driving around where I live on the weekend , apparently everyone thought it was me.

Wayne - are you trying to hide important news by breaking it gently in the middle of some other thread? Shame on you - that's a politician's game :respect: Have you finally felt the curvaceous power of the dark side too much to resist?

bet it was paul c on one of his early morning hoons..........

That is not far from the truth down here. Everbody thought my Land Rover was a "Tayota". Or, at the parts counter, the sales person would ask, "so who makes Land Rover?". I would just reply "Anglish fellers".

hehe... The day when Wayne eventually buys a Stevens will be interesting here

...most kids seem interested in the car til I open the doors, when it turns to slight disappointment (and not just because I'm getting out ;)) I got hit on by a 13 year old girl the other day because of it, to the dismay of her same age boyfriend, heh. Agreed though, any gal of any age who can identify a Lotus is a catch (Julia Roberts might be an exception. Never liked her.)

I think I told this story before... a kid in a class I was substituting for is thumbing through a picture book for cars, flipping past 911s, Ferraris, Mustangs, Lambos with some sort of disparaging remark to each of them... I curiously watched to see what he'd stop at...

"Now THIS is what I want..." he pointed at I think a yellow V8 (which I was surprised anyone would even bother to include in a book for kids ) he also expressed interest in the Corvette, guess he had a thing for fiberglass...

He was surprised at what I showed him in the parking lot at recess... B) (and it wasn't the obvious thing either, sickos :P)

(I've had my car described as "Why is that MR2 so big?" before...)
