380 front splitter rubber lip

Recommended Posts

Hey.

I really like the look of the rubber lip that is attached to the 380 front splitter. I am keen to fit one of these to my 350, purely for the cosmetic reasons as I think it looks good. A couple of questions;

1. Will this fit the 350 ? Is the splitter the same as the 380?

2. How is this attached, is it purely an adhesive strip or is there other hardware involved ?

3. On the attached parts list there are two different part numbers, any ideas the correct version ?

4. Any idea on the cost for this ?

thanks in advance.

Splitter is then grp not carbon, so the 17 skrivits have nothing to screw into. You need either a thicker splitter or wood underneath to screw into, adhesive strip wouldn’t be enough at speed.

The second part number I think is the part number intended for the 430, but it’s the same part. Not 100% sure though.

Ive changed splitter to an extended item and added a separate rubber lip, but didn’t use the lotus item as I thought it would be a fraction short on the extended splitter. Cost for the lotus one is about £70 + vat from memory

Has anyone else thought of doing this? I’m quite keen to give it a try and maybe using something better than tape to bond it on...

Anyone got any pics of the contact area of the rubber..? Am I mad for liking the look of the rubber?

There is another thread on here where this was discussed further. It may be In the alias23 project build.
In short, I installed the rubber lip on a standard 350 splitter. I didn’t use screws. Just 3M VHB tape and some 3M adhesion promoter. It stuck solid and has stayed that way for over a year with some spirited driving (road). It’s still stuck solid. The key is using the adhesion promoter as the tape won’t hold it alone.

Thanks mate, did you buy from lotus or source your own rubber? How stiff is it? And how much did it cost? Also any more pics as it’s kinda hard to see it on the car from your pic...

Cheers

@Woots It's called cabin fever buddy 😝

Jokes aside, the oem piece looks and feels great.. very sturdy bit of rubber, shame they couldn't fix it onto the lip better.

As @Edinburgh 111s mentioned, using 3M adhesion promoter prior to applying 3M tape works wonders 👍

Let me take some pictures of it close up in the garage and I will post later.

the lotus part was very expensive. About £150 if I remember correctly. A number of people on here have used this product. The minimum length gives you enough for two goes, so you will have enough for a spare. the rubber is good quality and pretty stiff, with enough flexibility built in. If you look on @alias23 website I think he sells it too as part of his package with his splitters.
