Engine Bay Of Esprit S2.2

Recommended Posts

HI,

another question about my S2.2 Esprit.

I have never seen an original engine bay so I would like to know which type of material has been used on my car for the floor all around the engine and for the sidewalls (it's correct?).

I have found very thiny plywood all over the bay with the carpets on it fixed with rivets, screw, washer etc...

So If someone have some clear photos of the engine bay of my car (Esprit 1981) I'll be very grateful if he will post to me.

Any tips or advise welcome.

This is my engine bay now...(pics)

Thanks for your attention, I need your help for a lot of thinghs.

I'm in Italy, nobody knows anythings about Lotus.

Yes, there should be wood decking, and the carpets are affixed to the wood with snaps. The wood pieces are attached to the body with 6mm bolts and small screws going through right-angle brackets.

The horizontal decking is made of plywood that is about 1/4-inch thick (around 6mm?), and the vertical pieces at the rear are a little thicker.

Someone with an S2 could probably better advise you as to the exact shapes they are cut into; I could only show you for the S1, and the S1 are different.

By the way, welcome to the forum! :welcome: An S2.2 is a very rare car -- it's nice to see yours!

Cheers,

Tony

P.S. -- what I can see in the photographs you posted looks original and correct (as far as I can tell).
