Mightymetro
Finally got her on all fours 😂😂😂 need the engine behind the car to lift it in but Sod’s law its the wrong way round so having to push the car down the drive to get the engine past and then push her back up and hopefully load the engine in the car Really wanted the 97 style spoiler which my car has when I purchased the car.......but now I really like the look without, makes the car look so low and wide (and that’s without the engine in). If it didn’t have the holes in the car I think I would have left it off

Mightymetro
Got the engine bolted up today, didn’t realise I had to take the lower suspension arms out to get the gearbox bolts in 😂. i am following the workshop manual in reverse and all going ok. Glad Mike S labelled the loom plugs up. Big thanks to Cweeden and Barry for the pictures when i keep getting stuck, really appreciate it quick clean up of the clutch slave bracket and mount as vapour blasters is now on lockdown. found that my new tanks haven’t actually been connected and nearly threw 20litres of super over the car 🙈. hopefully tomorrow will see the car about ready to go. Just waiting for the ECU and some other missing parts before I can turn her over for the first time in 2 years ...... new fuel filter fitted while I was in there

Now I remember what that ground down spanner I found earlier was for. Its easier if the mounts are bolted to the gearbox and dropped in and then you do the two small bolts to the chassis Quote Only here once
Winter
I see I am not the only one who earthed the two leads under the plenum rather than on the bell housing.

Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted May 3, 2020 Gold FFM Report Share Posted May 3, 2020 dunno - all I know is I picked up an 18mm cut down and side ground spanner out the tool box yesterday and couldn’t remember why I’d dont it save for it was an Esprit spanner Quote Only here once
Mightymetro
Yesterday wasn’t as productive due to little snags that took ages to sort 1st off was the power steering high pressure pipe. Couldn’t get it on and then was told it needs to go on before engine fitment. Mine was still attached to the car so off cam me the auxiliary belt, power steering pulley, cam belt cover and then power steering pump. What a pain then I couldn’t get the Vacuum hose attached under the plenum so had to get that lifted up to get to it sat on the roof of the car loads of little silly things missing now so having to order them which is holding things up feel much more confident working on the car though after all this You know when your missing a few bits when your inbox looks like this 1

Davlee1979
Hope you got The Esprit back on the Road. I owned it around 1999. I still miss it. One of the best drives ever. I Purchased it from Peter Smith cars , it was around £28K at the time. I believe the colour is from Renault and a one off for Lotus At the time Lotus produced one V8 in Gold & this one in the Blue, with the new revised Interior. The Gold one became a Press car and the Blue one became a mule for testing. Peter had both in stock and I selected the Blue one because it stood out, especially the Interior. It was a great drive, but I always had an issue with vibration at specific revs on certain roads. Never really got to the bottom of it despite several visits back to the workshop. Lack of availability of parts, constantly on back order eventually took its toll and I switched to another manufacturer . Having said that I would buy another V8.

MrJP
Ah well this is strange, I was just reading this thread and I realise that the star of the show (R475AAH) is actually the sister car to R482AAH.... the 1998 gold V8 GT press car. (Nice photo Bibs!) I’ve been lucky enough to own the R482AAH for the past 15 years or so and the old girl still going strong. OP, when your car is back on the road we should get them back together again!
mike_sekinger
Sacha's R475AAH is back up and running since May 2020. It's a great idea to get the two cars back together for a social. I'd message Sacha (Mightymetro) and get a conversation going. 1 Quote 1996 Esprit V8, 1998 Esprit V8 GT, 1999 Esprit S350 #002 (Esprit GT1 replica project), 1996 Esprit V8 GT1 (chassis 114-001), 1992 Lotus Omega (927E), 1999 Esprit V8SE, 1999 Esprit S350 #032, 1995 Esprit S4s, 1999 Esprit V8 GT (ex-5th Gear project), 1999 Esprit V8SE ('02 rear) 1999 S350 #002 Esprit GT1 replica
dclare
Mine is R472AAH and was used as one of the motorshow cars when the update was announced. Painted in Nautilus Blue. According to the letter that came with the CoP it was signed off from production on 24th Sept '97 and then passed to engineering for homologation use (hopefully not crash testing!!). Currently mine is on axle stands while Im fitting Lotac Bilsteins (I didnt like my Nitrons and sold them to ChrisW for his 350) and a bigger brake master cylinder to go with the bigger brakes. I just wish Lotus would deliver the rear shocks so I can get the job finished....they have been on order since November! Its good to know that these cars are still around and being loved. 1
