Last September I bought my Exige 380 Sport from Alex at Stratton. Easy and pleasant transaction all round from a really genuine and decent chap. Took it back for its 1000 mile service and Tim their Customer Care Manager delivered his role in the same way as Alex and therefore post care was the same strong experience. Finally, just had it back in Stratton to have my hard top Exige converted to soft top. Exactly the same experience again. All considered, a friendly, professional and knowledgeable dealership, which I have no hesitation in recommending.
The service on my Elise was excellent. It involved meticulous care and attention to detail and I was given a comprehensive list of all items checked and graded.

Only query – an insured courtesy car would be helpful, as we travel a long way – and the current system always involves long negotiations with our insurance company and their charge…
I purchased my new lotus Elise S Cup in April 2016 and can only say the service I have received from Stratton Motor Company has been very poor. They left me waiting for over an hour when I went to pick up the car, despite pre-arranging the time and informing them of my arrival. They didn’t fit Euro style plates that I specifically asked for and, they provided the wrong VIN number and vehicle details to DVLA resulting in an incorrect V5 being issued. I am still dealing with DVLA to now because the dealer has chosen to fob me off and do nothing. Worst of all, when my gearbox failed after less than two months and 1500 miles Stratton Motor Company asked me to pay for transport costs to get the car back to them. In the end Lotus Customer Services stepped in and arranged for collection through the AA and Hethel engineering fitted a replacement gearbox just in time for my trip to Spa and the Alps.
The car has been fantastic since the repair but this dealer is a joke and really lets the Lotus brand down.
I’ve now owned my Exige V6 S for about 11 months so thought it was about time I left a review about the service received from Stratton Motors!
After the initial test drive I decided to make the move from S2 Exige to the V6. Throughout the whole process James was exeptionally helpful and patient. Any questions about spec, including awkward ones which weren’t clear in the brochure and any non-Lotus extras were dealt with no fuss at all. We managed to come to a very competitive deal which included taking my old car in.
During the build process James kept me up-to-date in a timely fashion, I’m incredibly impatient but James always beat me to it with a phone call when I was wondering how things were progressing. He also arranged for me to see the car in build stage on the line at Hethel. The car arrived and was ready for my collection in good time for a tight deadline I had hoped to meet from day one which was actually earlier than the date promised. James made a real occasion of the handover making the whole process feel that bit special.
Since owning the car I have used the service and workshop departments for the initial run in service and also to purchase and install a few upgrades to the car. Again, each and every time I have been kept informed with progress and been given a great service.
Overall I can’t recommend Stratton Motor Company enough, the entire team are incredibly friendly, helpful and efficient.
I did not source my car from SMC, however used them when doing my pre-purchase process, as well as for servicing the car I eventually bought.
I have dealt extensively with James on sales and Tim/Jonny in service. They have always been extremely professional and very courteous.
My only criticism of the facility is that in order to have a courtesy car, I must arrange my own insurance – which my current insurer do not facilitate. For smaller jobs this is no problem because the showroom is a great place to spend time and they also offer a drop-off and pick-up from Norwich, but for longer jobs it can be difficult.
We recently purchased a new lotus Exige Roadster from James at Stratton – from initial enquiry to test drive and finally collection the service was excellent and very efficient. Its worth noting that Stratton also offered me a higher trade in value on my previous car than any other dealer I had approached which was a nice touch.
I would also like to add that the aftersales service has also been excellent and all of the team involved have been very helpful to date.
I would 100% recommend Stratton Motor Company to anyone looking to buy or upgrade.

Just picked up my new Lotus Evora 400 from James.
Stratton’s now have a sales department to match their ‘Second to None’ Service team.
He managed to work out a fantastic deal part exchanging Evora SR for the new car.
One of the great and unique points Stratton’s have over all the other dealers is their location, about 10 to 15 minutes drive from the Lotus Factory, which of course James organized a visit to see my car being built.
One of the best and worst bits was James e-mailing me pictures of the car being delivered from the factory to Stratton’s then realizing I had another 4 days till collection!
When I arrived on the morning of collection everyone at Stratton’s seemed very excited for me collecting my Evora. James had gone to much effort to get all the paper work was sorted so we could concentrate on the car. When walking into the main show room I have noticed the car cover, which was nice and even better to watch the unveiling.
As with all things from Stratton Motor Company the car was prepared to the highest of standards. If you’re looking for a very personnel experience I would recommend Stratton or even if you’re looking for the best deal it’s worth giving James a ring or an e-mail.

I’m on my fourth Elise bought from Stratton’s over the last 12 years. Always helpful, even if its just running me into Norwich for the day while the car is in for a service.

I would like to say a huge big thanks to the entire team at Stratton Motor Company for recent events abroad.
I bought my Lotus Evora in 2009 (it was one of the first!). For the last 3 years, myself, my brother, my son and 2 step sons have made the trip to Le Mans as a fantastic boys out weekend. My Lotus I adore and so do the French.They are very rare there and it is photographed continuously.
This year was destined to be different!
Before we left the UK left the driver’s door window seemed a little temperamental but I am used to its idiosyncrasies and tolerate them. The drive down to Le Mans was smooth and uneventful. We set up camp and looked in awe at the amazing thunderstorm in the distance as we went to bed. I awoke to groans from my brother, whose tent had a river running through it. My car keys were sitting in a damp patch in our tent. All seemed well until I tried to access the boot with valuables in when it failed. No problem I thought, the manual key will open the door and start the engine too. Wrong. I had forgotten about the immobiliser. Panic. No spare set of keys and no European breakdown (who needs that with a Lotus?).
In desperation on Friday 12th June, I phoned Stratton Motor Company and spoke to Jonny . He said that the Stratton Racing Team were at Le Mans with the Aston Martin team, and just maybe someone would be able to help, just go to the pit lane. So we walked to the main pit lane fighting our way through 260,000 spectators to ask for Ian. Amazingly we managed to attract the attention of one of the engineers who informed us we were in the wrong pit and needed to be in the support paddock.
We eventually found Ian who pointed us in Phill’s direction. He changed the battery in the key fob as a first trial of a fix. Phill then said he recognised me !!! Apparently I used to be his GP a few years ago, what a small world. Phill said that if the new battery didn’t solve the problem, re-contact him and he would see what he could do.
Sadly the new battery was unable to fix the problem and I text Phill to explain the situation and he promised to come and try a fix. He duly arrived with Angus and tools at our campsite later that evening, having run the gauntlet of the boys doing burnouts around the track. He spent some time stripping the interior and liaising with Jonny back in the UK. He managed to get the engine running but he couldn’t silence the alarm. More tools required. So the Lotus went to the paddock pits for a more definitive fix. Hours later the boys let me know it was sorted and driveable after effectively hot wiring it!
Saturday morning we collected the car. We were told the siren of the immobiliser had not stopped so had to be removed and wrapped in a blanket before being enclosed in a box as it was so annoying! It was placed in the racing team trailer as it was too irritating.
We watched the fantastic racing now stress free. The Lotus was gaffer taped to protect it from further rain that night – ironically the passenger window opened overnight without being asked so was a good plan!
On the drive back we were photographed and even saluted by one French driver! Little did they know how special this car was.
A driver from Suffolk had been to Le Mans. Broken down, in a fix, and been sorted out by the local dealership in a very special way in the paddock with the Aston Team at Le Mans.

I am so grateful and I cannot thank the entire team enough especially Phill and Angus (who gave up their rest time to assist me) in France and the UK back up from Jonny. If anyone can top that I would be amazed.
My Evora has now returned to Stratton Motor Company to be rebuilt!
In the corner of my eye I have spotted a new supercharged gorgeous Evora! As boys do, we discussed the next car on our eventful journey. I reckon I know what mine is!
