Lotus Praga LMP2 racing this weekend at Spa

Team Lotus LMP2, WEC Round 1, 12.-14.04.2013,Silverstone

Lotus Praga LMP2 is heading for Belgium for the second race of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend. The venue for the 6 Hours of Spa is the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps located in the Belgian Ardennes. The track is 7.004 km in length and one of the longest and most demanding on the calendar. Almost every race driver counts the circuit among his favourite because of its challenging layout and the famous “Eau Rouge” curve. First glimpse of new LMP2 contender, the Lotus T128

Lotus releases a first photo of the Lotus T128’s monocoque. The driver cell of the T128 was developed in accordance with the 2014 LMP1 regulations. Improved safety, visibility and driver comfort have been paramount in the development of the chassis. The T128 provides a better view for the driver from inside the cockpit. 6th in Shanghai for Lotus LMP2

Lotus was on a good pace at the 6 Hours of Shanghai. After being on Pole Position, James Rossiter in car #32 had a moderate start and did not push too much. The Briton did not use his tyres too hard as otherwise he would have had problems at the end of his first stint. It was a wise decision as the cars in front of him struggled with the tyres and so, Rossiter could catch up with the class leader. Unfortunately, car #32 had to retire because of some brake problems. Great race for Lotus LMP2 in Bahrain

The team showed a strong and impressive performance and achieved its best race result of the season so far. Car #32 finished the race in fourth position, just about 30 seconds off from the second place. Kevin Weeda, James Rossiter and Vitantonio Liuzzi did solid runs and were fighting for the podium. The black and gold livered Lotus LMP2 car #32 was even leading its class in the race. Car #31 had to retire because of a broken rear suspension. LMP1: Lotus-Rebellion extended its lead in the LMP1 Team Trophy for privateers, finishing fourth and sixth overall. Neel Jani made up one place from his P5 grid slot at the start and then gave chase to the dominant works Audis andToyota. After a trouble-free first stint in the six hour marathon, he handed driving duties to Nicolas Prost. Unfortunately his #12 car spun after contact with the GT #57, which had already traded paint with the #1 Audi. Highs & lows for Lotus LMP2 in WEC at Spa

After an engine change, car #32 got a penalty which meant that James Rossiter had to start from the pit lane with one lap down. Especially after the great result in yesterday’s qualifying this was a real shame for the team. Rossiter made his way through the field and went up to 6th position in LMP2 class. However, the Lotus LMP2 #32 needed to be repaired after an accident and lost some positions. The car finished the race in position 11 of the LMP2s. Lotus is pleased to announce that the team will run two cars at the 6 Hours of Spa. After the successful first appearance at the inaugural event of FIA WEC in Sebring, Lotus is set to contest the next round in Belgium with two cars. American Kevin Weeda and Briton James Rossiter will join the team and race alongside Thomas Holzer, Mirco Schultis and Luca Moro in Spa. Lotus Jetalliance has achieved its set goal in today’s finale of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cups inChina: Both Lotus Evora GTE made it to the finish at the “Six Hours of Zhuhai”. As a long and challenging season draws to a close, Lotus Jetalliance looks forward to a strong finishing performance from both Evora GTE cars at the Six Hours of Zhuhai in China this weekend (November 12th/13th).
