Picture of The Month – December 2016

We figured you couldn't get a lot more seasonal than a snow and ice dusted, bright red Elise. So here's your PoTM for December, a dynamic rig shot and very dramatic angle, courtesy of New Jersey photographer Mike Hyatt. Mike's work has already featured for the month of August this year and despite some strong competition, this shot was always going to be hard to beat for December. Hopefully it will be enough to tempt one or two Elise owners to crank their heaters up and get out there to take a few shots of their own. Treat your desktop, smartphone or tablet this … [Read more...]

Picture of The Month – May 2016

We're well into racing season by now, so another picture of a Lotus in action on track seemed appropriate. In this case, 'off track' might be more accurate but this Elan captured by Mark Lacey is one of the many that are still raced ferociously most weekends this time of year. Note the red leather steering wheel which is a nice touch and must be worth at least half a second on its own! No doubt this Elan was barged off the track by some great, lumbering, hugely more powerful Jaguar that was ignoring all the blue flags being waved at it! Keeping a determined Elan driver … [Read more...]

Picture of The Month – May 2015

The winning shot for May comes from PoTM regular Malcolm Feth. Taken at the recent TLF International Lotus Day at the evocative Brooklands banking on a perfect Spring day, the line-up included 40 great examples of the Marque both old and new, as well as two of the ultra-rare Evora GT350s. Malcolm is a perfectionist, he puts a huge amount of time into retouching every shot and has produced two smartphone crops so that none of the owners will miss out! Anyone interested in buying an A2 poster of this image can get in touch here. To save the image for your desktop … [Read more...]

Picture of The Month – April 2015

This wonderful, vivid shot of an S2 Elise basking in the sun entitled 'Fields in Structure' was chosen from our Picture of The Month entry gallery. It was submitted by Gert Kethmer who is the very proud owner of this Burnt Orange, 40th Anniversary edition 2008 Elise S. Gert bought the car in Austria and drove it back home to Denmark with his son - a trip he remembers fondly. The car continues to be enjoyed to the full on track days as well as lower tempo weekends away. Shot with a Canon 5D mkIII and a Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 L lens at 200 mm. The exposure was 1/500 … [Read more...]

Picture of The Month – March 2015

This month's winner is this stunning Laser Blue Exige S1 courtesy of photographer Mark Lacey. Whatever it is about the Exige S1 that has already made it a Lotus classic, this picture captures it in spades. The combination of raw, road-racer appeal and taut, muscular curves make for an endlessly photogenic subject. But even among the many great images out there, this one stood out. The colour helps certainly and Mark has captured it beautifully, along with the sky - which was all captured in camera, not 'comped-in' as many people assume. It was taken for Hilton and … [Read more...]

Picture of the Month – February 2015

This month's winner of an Esprit V8 being driven like its maker intended, proves that entries uploaded to the 'PoTM Entries Gallery' can and do win! This shot was uploaded by TLF member Captain Bigleux from a stunning series taken by photographer Kevin Goudin. The Captain has since parted with the Midnight Blue Esprit and I'm sure this shot will make him miss it all the more. It certainly looked like he had some fun in it during his ownership! Lets hope that the new owner continues to photograph and drive the car with the same level of enthusiasm! To save the image … [Read more...]

Picture of the Month – January 2015

2015 gets off to a flying start with this drool-worthy shot of the Lotus of the moment - the resurrected, ultra-rare, Evora GTE (aka the GT350). Magnificent in Nightfall Blue, this particular car is one of only 6 right hand drive cars. The shot is hot off the press too, having been taken just last week by PoTM regular Malcolm Feth. It came about after a pro-active call to Bell and Colvill where the car is currently for sale - at least, until my lottery numbers come in. Malcolm, also a TLF member and owner of a stunning red Exige S2, even managed to be one of the first … [Read more...]

Picture Of The Month – December 2014

We see out the year with this evocative shot of a gorgeous 1959 Elite charging into the Yokohama S corner at the Nurburgring GP track. Spotted on flickr, it was taken earlier in the year by Mattias Voss during a night round of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix which looks like a fantastic event for historic racing fans. Next year's Oldtimer Grand Prix takes place between the 7th and 9th of August with more details available here. I think the shot really captures the essence of this pioneering little car. Perfectly proportioned for a front-mid engined design, the Elite … [Read more...]

Picture Of The Month – November 2014

What better way to brighten up a dreary November than the sight of three day-glo orange Lotus Type 56's in formation? Brought to you with very kind permission from the good people at Classic Team Lotus, this was taken at this year's Indy 500 and captures the moment when Indy legends Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones and Vince Granatelli delighted the 300,000 strong crowd with a parade lap in these revolutionary, gas turbine powered cars. The story was covered by TLF here earlier in the year but this shot featuring three of the four cars that raced in the 1968 Indy … [Read more...]
