Lotus Technology Inc. has officially announced the introduction of the Emira 420 Sport, positioning it at the absolute apex of the Emira lineup. Engineered specifically to bridge the gap between road and circuit, the new model introduces significant enhancements in power, aerodynamic efficiency, and weight reduction.

In tandem with this launch, Lotus has also introduced a highly anticipated removable tinted glass roof panel, available across the entire Emira range.

Orders for the Emira 420 Sport are open immediately, with global customer deliveries scheduled to commence in August 2026.

Weight Reduction and Aerodynamic Optimisation

When equipped with the optional Lightweight Handling Pack, the Emira 420 Sport achieves a 25kg weight reduction alongside a 25kg increase in downforce compared to the standard Emira Turbo.

A comprehensive aerodynamic and cooling overhaul has been implemented to ensure consistent performance under high-thermal, track-demanding conditions:

  • Enhanced Thermal Management: Airflow is increased by 15% to the outboard radiators, 14% to the central radiator, and 30% to the exhaust valves.
  • Brake Cooling: Efficiency is improved by 10%.
  • Exterior Revisions: Functional updates include a newly designed front splitter, revised front vents, extended side sills, larger air intakes, a subtle lip spoiler, and a functional louvred tailgate—the latter paying subtle homage to the classic Esprit Turbo.

Chassis Dynamics and Driver Engagement

The Emira 420 Sport builds upon Lotus’ renowned ride and handling characteristics with focused hardware upgrades. The bonded aluminium chassis features double-wishbone suspension at all four corners, complemented by a 5mm lower ride height and unique suspension geometry.

The Lightweight Handling Pack integrates:

  • Two-way adjustable Multimatic dampers for precise track tuning.
  • A lightweight titanium exhaust system and a lithium-ion battery.
  • High-performance tyres and a dedicated Lotus Track Performance app for lap telemetry.

Inside, the cabin features 12-way adjustable sports seats and an updated driver interface. Responsiveness is enhanced by new carbon fibre gearshift paddles engineered with tactile haptic feedback.

“The Emira 420 Sport is proof of our commitment to Focus 2030, and we’re listening to our customers,” said Mr. Qingfeng Feng, CEO of Lotus Tech. “This is what obsessive engineering looks like. We’ve built on everything Emira has achieved to date to deliver a car that is even more connected, more intuitive, and more rewarding to drive.”

Open-Air Driving: Targa-Style Removable Roof

In a significant update to the model line, Lotus has introduced a removable tinted glass roof panel. Drawing inspiration from the heritage Esprit targa configurations, the panel can be quickly removed and stored behind the seats in a bespoke protective bag. Lotus engineers confirm that the underlying vehicle architecture ensures structural rigidity and dynamic performance remain completely unaltered. This feature is available optionally across all Emira variants.

Bespoke Personalisation

Lotus has expanded the options list for the 420 Sport, introducing a premium Carbon Fibre Exterior Pack covering the front splitter, side sills, wheel arch vents, side pods, rear spoiler, and diffuser surround.

  • Wheels: Nine distinct designs are available, including a new 20-inch 15-spoke forged alloy wheel finished in Satin Dark Grey.
  • Paint: A palette of 16 exterior colours includes Tangelo Orange, a vivid, expressive hue exclusive to the 420 Sport that continues the historic Lotus Orange tradition.
  • Interior Packs: Customers can choose between a Carbon Fibre Pack (featuring unique geometry on the driver display surround and steering wheel spoke) or a Hand Painted Pack (incorporating Tangelo Orange accents throughout the center console and instrumentation surrounds).
