The Lotus Elise MK 2 has come 2nd in the Autocar car of the decade as voted by Autocar readers. OK so its not first place but its not bad considering some of the competition the little Elise was up against, for instance the Elise beat the Bugatti Veyron and Nissan GT-R which both came joint 3rd.
The Ranger Rover came first with the Elise taking 12.5% of the votes and both the Veyron and GT-R taking 8.8%

But Autocar deputy editor Ed Keohane thinks the Elise should have won the title as the car has evolved from the MK1 to a car with with Toyota engines and gearboxes and modern creature comforts while still maintaining what Lotus is well known for, uncompromising handling
