Ex-F1 driver Martin Donnelly hosted the awards at Brands Hatch

On Saturday 2nd March LoTRDC held their annual UK awards night at Brands Hatch.

After a well supported pre-season track day drivers and teams retired to the Stirling Suite for an evening of light hearted award presentations hosted jointly by LoTRDC’s Richard Short and Martin Donnelly. Once the dinner and awards were over Perry McCarthy, the original Stig took centre stage to tell a few stories and host a q&a session both on his own and with his former rat pack member Martin Donnelly.

LoTRDC Outstanding Achievement awards – since the club and race series were launched in 2007:

Tom Chatterway – For sheer perserverance and dedication to LoTRDC ending in his most successful season by some way. Tom started in our very first race at Brands in 2007 in a VX220 moved to an S1 ‘Mr Bump special’ Elise and for the last few years has raced a 2 Eleven putting it on the podium a number of times in 2012 and finishing 3rd overall in the 2012 Championship.

Doug Setters – For keeping going when things got difficult. Doug joined us for our second ever race and with the exception of one season when we moved to Europe and put Doug in GT Cup he’s been ever present. This summer Doug’s son and co-driver Chris had to miss a couple of rounds when Doug’s 2nd grandchild was having a difficult birth and early few weeks with his mum, most would have stopped racing but with encouragement from those around him Doug went to extraordinarily levels to keep going.

David Harvey – Another who was present on our first grid and has been ever present since, for the last 2 seasons competing with his K Series 340R as he did in that very first race not just in the UK but also competing in Lotus Cup Europe. David has persevered with the same car regardless of what seen chucked at him on track be it mechanical or accidents. Always the first in the paddock, especially abroad and first with entry forms and paperwork.
