Team Lotus Chief Mechanic Eddie Dennis has passed away, having endured a long illness.
Eddie joined Team Lotus in 1966, becoming Chief Mechanic for the World Championship winning 1972 and 1973 seasons, and beyond.
The film ‘If You’re Not Winning You’re Not Trying’ captures moments of Eddie’s close working relationship with Colin Chapman, during one of the team’s most successful seasons in 1973.
Eddie left Team Lotus at the end of 1979 and co-founded DC Developments.
In 1996 he joined Classic Team Lotus and played a vital role in establishing this initiative as the leading specialist in Team Lotus racing cars.
Sincere condolences to his widow, Sheila – who cared for him so well during his illness – and to son Nigel and daughter Alison.
Eddie is one of the great figures in Team Lotus history and will be sorely missed by his team mates from so many victorious seasons.
