Land Rover has presented the new generation Range Rover Sport at the New York Showroom. Even visually it is a separate model of the Range Rover family. Range Rover Sport is a more dynamic version of the classic Range Rover, but the actual generation differs a lot more from the model it was based on. The front spoiler was redesigned, the rear one is equipped with tail lights completely different from those of the new Range Rover. The sidelines are also different: they look more dynamic and modern on the new Range Rover Sport.
The new Range Rover Sport has kept the shape characteristic for this range, but when it comes to details the designers have done a great job, because the car looks much better and seems less massive than the previous models. The engine range has been partially updated too. It is equipped with 2 supercharged petrol engines and 2 turbo-diesel engines. The main engine is a new 3-liter V6 that produces 340 hp and takes the new Range Rover Sport up to 100 km/h in only 6.2 seconds. The new facility replaces the old V8 of 375 hp. The second petrol engine is the well-known 5-liter V8 that produces 510 hp and allows a speed up to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds.
The diesel range is equipped with a 3-liter V6, available in two power versions. The basic version (TDV6) produces 258 hp and goes up to 100 km/h in just 7,3 seconds; the more powerful version (SDV6) with 292 hp allows a speed up to 100 km/h in 7 seconds. The next model SDV8 will be presented at the beginning of the nest year: it will have a 4,4 turbo-diesel engine, producing 340 hp and 700 Nm, that can take the vehicle up to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.
Britons expect the new Range Rover Sport to have a great success. The last model of the old generation, launched in 2005, was produced in 380.000 copies.
