Lotus had it’s usual strong presence at the Autosport International show held at Birmingham’s NEC over the weekend of the 10th & 11th January. Lotus Cars sent their Motorsport division in force with a variety of cars on their stand including the newly revealed Evora GT4 which will race in British GT with Ultratek (story), Elise Trophy champion Adam Gore’s Exige Cup R and the road-going version of the Elise Cup racer, the Elise S Cup in stunning Toxic Green.
Classic Team Lotus had a very impressive Jim Clark line-up on display with 4 of his cars including the Type 32B in which Jim which won 10 out of the 13 races it entered and the Tasman Championship, the Type 33 in which he won the F1 World Championship, the Type 35 in which he won the Formula Two championship and the Type 38 in which he won the Indy 500, all in 1965. Wow, what a year!
Lotus Cup Europe were on show which a great selection of race cars and the newly independent Lotus Cup UK and Elise Trophy also had a stand to entice entrants to the excellent series.
