The 29th annual Club Lotus Show and Festival takes place at Donington Park on 13th and 14th August 2011. The Show is the biggest and best attended indoor Lotus Show in Europe and regularly attracts over 5,000 enthusiasts from all around the world.
In addition to the regular modern and historic car displays, trade stands and autojumble, the 2011 Show will feature a wide variety of live practical technical demonstrations. These will be given by some of the most respected names in the business and will cover a wide range of subjects. Lotus engine specialists CTM Performance Engineering will be running question and answer sessions throughout the show on servicing and rebuilding the series of legendary Lotus twin-cam engines. Nick Fulcher – the man responsible for creating the interior of the famous James Bond Esprit in the film The Spy Who Loved Me – will be on hand to give advice on how to restore and maintain vinyl, leather and interior trim. Nick will show visitors many of his tricks of the trade and how to keep their cars’ interior in top condition. Option 1 Sportscars will be demonstrating many of the specialist techniques required to repair, restore and re-spray fibreglass. Elan expert Brian Buckland will be running regular general Q&A seminars and giving free technical advice and help to owners and restorers.
We’re delighted to welcome Octane and Evo magazines as our new media partners for the Show. In addition to having some special show offers, their brand new Magbook Lotus Legends will be on sale on their stand.
Hundreds of Lotus cars – both road and race – reflecting the great history and heritage of Lotus, will be displayed both inside the hall and on the many club stands outside.
As always there will be lots to see and do inside the hall including individual Lotus club displays and a used Lotus car sales area. All the major UK Lotus specialists will be at the Show selling everything from new cars, tuning kits, new and used spare parts and accessories to insurance, photographs, memorabilia, models, clothing and accessories. A large and varied Lotus autojumble will give bargain hunters with plenty of fun and value. All Lotus models will be catered for with companies such as Paul Matty, Christopher Neil and PNM covering the classics and Eliseparts and Hangar 111 amongst others looking after Elise and Exige owners.
There will also be a special display remembering Ron Hickman who sadly passed away earlier this year. Ron was a regular visitor to the Show and we’ll be showcasing his immense design contribution to Lotus with examples of Elite, Elan, Elan +2 and Europa plus the story behind them.
Group Lotus will be bringing their fabulous new Lotus Evora S as well as displays and the latest news about their exciting plans for the future. The new Lotus Cars 2011 Roadshow will also be there with the current range of Lotus road cars including Evora, Elise, Exige and 2-Eleven.
Group Lotus Aftersales will be selling a wide range of new and classic spares and parts from the factory at specially discounted show prices plus Lotus brand clothing and merchandise.
Classic Team Lotus will be displaying several of their priceless historic Grand Prix Cars including the beautiful and revolutionary ground effect Type 79 F1 – the car that Mario Andretti used to win the 1978 F1 World Championship and the legendary Type 49B chassis R10 in which Graham Hill won the Monaco GP twice in 1968 and 1969.
There’ll also be modern day racing action all weekend with two days of practice and racing on the revised Donington Park Grand Prix circuit including 4 races of the highly successful LoT Elise Trophy and the brand new Lotus Cup UK Championship. A free shuttle bus service for visitors will be running between the paddock and exhibition centre during the Show.
Organised by Club Lotus, the worlds biggest and oldest Lotus Club, the weekend is certain to be the biggest UK Lotus gathering in 2011 and the place to be for all Lotus enthusiasts. Club Lotus offers a wide range of benefits to members and membership still only costs £30 per year.
