This months picture was taken by LEGS (Lotus Enthusiast Group Scotland) active member Ali Crozier.
The picture was taken early on Sunday morning at Cairn O’Mount (Banchory to Fettercairn road) whilst en route to the LEGS meet. Just a quick snap really as I’m no pro photographer.
I bought my first Lotus (Elise S2 111S) back in 2002, quickly getting into trackdays and then in 2005 competed in some Sprints and Hillclimbs becoming Scottish Road Car Sprint Champion. The car was still my daily driver! Work pressures curtailed much more competition but I upgraded to a Magnetic Blue S2 Exige 190, still as an everyday car but great fun for Euro jaunts, Nurburgring, trackdays etc. Working abroad for a couple of years saw me trade to shared ownership of an early S1 Elise for holidays and trackdays then on return bought a lovely S2 Exige GT Edition.
In the summer I swapped the Exige for the 2-Eleven from Murray Motors in Edinburgh. I was in need of something a bit more foucussed for trackdays and it was my first Lotus that didn’t have to do the daily commute. I wanted to drive to events though – no trailering for me – so the 2-Eleven was the perfect choice. The car is pretty much as standard in Aspen white with Supercharger, Sport Suspension, UK IVA, Torsen LSD, F/R tow eyes and the lovely carbon GT2 HANS seats.
Since running in I’ve been over to Zandvoort and the South of France for a few trackdays and also given it a run at Knockhill. I’m loving the car, fantastic thrill to drive and a rewarding challenge on the limit. It also seems to turn a few heads on the road! Future plans are for road runs and more trackdays, maybe even the odd hillclimb/sprint next year…
