Lotus have moved into a raft of new motorsport arenas over the past two years with teams representing the brand at all levels from FIA approved karting and in the future, tarmac rallying all the way up to F1 and pretty much most in between. Apparently not content with with the current portfolio they’ve teamed up with Adrienn Bende in Hungary and also have a race series based around the Hungaroring, exclusively for ladies! Driving the current Elise S 1.6 138 bhp on Yokohama control tyres the championship has just completed its first year with Edina Bús of the Pi-Do Racing Team claiming the cup, a full 63 points clear at the top of the table and presented by none other than Bernie Ecclestone (pictured).
Lotus CEO Dany Bahar:
“I would like to congratulate Adrienn Bende and her team for running a truly successful inaugural year of the UNIQA Lotus Ladies Cup championship. With such commitment of the organisers, and dedication of the participants, undoubtedly the series will continue to go from strength to strength.
Lotus is proud to be able to offer racing opportunities at every level, from Karting right through to F1™. Irrespective of whether you are male or female, the Lotus appeal is truly universal and it’s easy to see why. Lotus’ racing heritage goes unrivalled in that no other manufacturer can boast such a wide span of activity and with this addition to our portfolio we continue to attract new participants to racing.
The Hungaroring, which hosts motorsport at its very highest level makes a great home for the Lotus Ladies Cup and with the series sharing the stage with F1 GP for 2011, indicates the strength and interest in this unique series.
