Saturday, 2nd September 2017 saw the 11th Lotus Festival on a wonderfully sunny day at Brands Hatch Motor Racing Circuit. With a full race card including Lotus Sprinting, Elise Trophy and Cup races, they were joined on track by classic F1 demonstrations and a lap of the circuit by the owners of the Lotus Type 110 bikes, made famous by Chris Boardman in the ’92 Rio Olympics.

With over 750 Lotus cars turning up on the day, the circuit was packed with beautiful examples of Hethel’s finest. A record number of clubs in attendance bought in over 250 cars themselves and we’re very grateful for their continued attendance. The traders at the event saw very brisk business with many cars sold by the dealers who bought stock along for sale.

The well subscribed Show & Shine competition produced some fantastically presented cars, with the decision in one category coming down to how clean behind the fuel filler cap was, as there was nothing else to choose between the two. The winners were:

  • Pre-1974; Roger Penn – Elan S4 SE
  • 1974-1995; David Combes – Esprit Turbo
  • 1996-2008; Trevor Buesnel – Elan M100 SE
  • Post 2009; Paul Hanniford – Exige S2
  • Overall winner; Jim Estall – Elan Sprint

We’d like to thank everyone who attended the event and who helped to make it such a great day for Lotus lovers from across Europe.
