After 15 years of successful business at the Nurburgring in Germany and then Spa Francorchamps in Belgium, the next venture RSR launches is a new track day platform down in the sunny south at the Portimao International Circuit in Portugal. This track fits RSR’s profile as a proper drivers track where elevation plays a critical role – similar to the ‘Ring and just like Spa.
RSR CEO Ron Simons: “We are always looking for the next thrill we can provide our customers, first it was the ‘Ring, then Spa…now we go to over 15 tracks in Europe. On the shoulders of the season, we looked for better weather and an ideal location. Portimão with Ascari fit our business model perfectly. Our customers asked and we have responded. I am really looking forward to this next venture for RSR as we continually strive to expand and improve our offerings.”
Portimão is busy during the summer season hosting many international race events…it truly is an international player on the calendar of major motoring events. This then leaves a perfect gap for RSR to operate during the normally colder winter months where the South of Portugal still features warm sunny days, perfect for driving. The Iberian Coast shines its true colors during this time of year with less tourists and lower prices, great to take advantage of a driving event in Southern Europe.
RSR starts relocating part of its fleet from as early as October so have many track rental options available until May 2015. Based at the Portimão circuit, however they also operate at the famous Ascari Resort only 370km’s from this base. Ascari is a private race track which is historically very difficult to gain access to, but now RSR Iberia brings you there on track to tackle it first hand! Just like RSR Events in central Europe, they travel to many circuits and will also head to Jerez Circuit, Estoril Circuit and Monteblanco Circuit. This gives many options so you can pair up many tracks in just one trip.
The RSR Lotus fleet will be available in the new locations. These are some of the cars which are available for any track in Iberia between mid November and mid April.
