The 2018 season kicked off in wintery style at Snetterton – or was it Snowtterton? – amidst the wintery showers sweeping across the Norfolk venue. In a new format for 2018, the bumper 27 car grid had three 20 minute races with a mix of rolling and standing starts to determine who would take the spoils.

In Cup UK it was Robin Nilsson who dealt best with the conditions as he took 2 wins with Daniel Palma picking up the other after James Little retired within sight of the chequered flag.

In Elise Trophy, Craig Denman took a clean sweep in his new Elise S3 despite a bizarre start to race 3 when he went on the incorrect starting signal! He set the pace in qualifying and stormed all 2 races with incredible style.

Joe Taylor had a stunning weekend with the rookie qualifying 2nd before picking up a podium in race 1 and strong results throughout despite a failed ABS system in tricky conditions.

Series owner Simon Oakley also capitalised in the tricky conditions with 2 2nd place podiums but struggled in race 3 opting for the Wet tyres which ended up being the wrong tyre choice.

David Alexander also made an appearance on the podium in race 3 after making the perfect tyre choice and an impressive battle to keep Van Nederveen at bay.

There was exciting wheel to wheel racing up and down the grid and with so many new drivers joining this season, it’s going to be interesting to see how people develop as they find their feet!

Will we see the mighty Alex Ball return to consistent finishes at Round 2 and battle with Denman? And, will we see John LaMaster and Axel Van Nederveen back at the front of the grid after the issues they endured this weekend?

It’s time to wipe the snow from cars and regroup at Donington Park on 15th April for Round 2. See you there!

#ThankYouMarshals – Special mention to all our marshals during this event. They battled the freezing cold temperatures to ensure we had an unspoilt race weekend full of action.
